Chapter 23

Skylar's POV

The next morning I woke up to an empty side of my bed where Ace was sleeping last night. He left the note that he left early to work. I got up, got dressed in my black trousers, grey sweater, black boots, my warm coat and went outside.

Snow was falling down from the sky while I was walking. It was really nice outside. My classes were relatively fine today. Flynn was with me during most of them so my day was quite bearable.

When I was walking towards the entrance, I bumped my shoulder against someone's shoulder.

"Look where-ugh it's you again."

Great, I obviously had to bumped into Chloe..

"Is there something wrong with your eyes? Or maybe legs, hm?" She nagged, stepping closer.

"Well, technicaly y-you could have b-been more careful as well." I mumbled and looked down.

I didn't know if it was good idea to talk back to her but she was just so infuriating and although she scared me a bit, I didn't want to show her that I can't stand for myself.

She came closer to me and crossed her arms over her chest.

"What was that?" She seemed irritated and angry.

I didn't want to push her bottoms so I stayed silent with my head hanging low. I intertwined my both hands behind my back.

I hate myself for not being able to tell people what I really think of them. I'm always trying to be careful with my words or actions just not to hurt their feelings when at the same time, they're hurting mine.

"That's what I thought. You're so fucking annoying that I'm starting to loose patience with you" She grabbed my wrist so tight that it hurt. "You're a stupid, ugly-"

"Fuck off, Chloe!"

Suddenly, I heard Jacob's voice. He appeared out of nowhere, and I think I've never been more greatful to see him.

She let go of my wrist instantly and took a step back.

"Aww, why so hursh? We were just talking, right Skylar?" She stated icely with her fake smile.

I nodded my head and said a quiet 'yes'

"Yeah, clearly. Just get out of my sight." Jacob growled.

She came up to him slowly and put her hand on his chest. A slutty smirk apparent on her face.

"Be careful what you're saying. If I remember correctly, you and Ace were saying something different not that long ago." She glanced at me one more time and walked away.

Bitch. She knew that what she said would hurt me. What do all guys see in her? Jacob put his hand on my arm and I lifted up my face to look at him.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks."

"No problem."

We started walking together towards the entrance. I put my hand on my wrist. A tiny bruise started forming on it.

"Come on, I know a really nice café near here. It's freezing today."

"Jacob, I don't think it's a good idea. Ace wouldn't be pleased." I said honestly. I don't want more problems.

"Ace doesn't have to know. Besides, it's just a coffee, Skylar." He sighed.

"I'm sorry Jacob but no."

I felt a little guilty but I couldn't go with him and I tried to decline his offer politely.

"Do you think Ace will be faithful forever?"
