Nicole's point of view

Something isn't right with my husband. He just tried to kill our baby. I knew he was against having children, but when I got pregnant with Allyson, I couldn't give her away or get an abortion. I've always wanted children. Even when I was a young little girl. I wanted four children. I gave up on having children when I met Mark. He didn't want any and I had to be okay with that. I had to be okay with a lot of things because he was the vampire king, and what he said goes. Truth is this marriage was forced on me by him. He found interest in me, and wouldn't let me be with anyone else. He said that I was his and we were meant to be together. He said, 'It was written in the stars.' or some shit like that. Eventually, I stopped trying to reject his advances. I believed he loved me, so I tried to let myself be loved. In return I tried to love him too. I did. I fell in love. I guess you could say that he love bombed me.

When I made it clear that I was keeping Allyson. He changed his stance on having children. He stopped fighting me on the subject. He accepted it, and we were happy. He loved me and Allyson, and we loved him. Every morning we would take walks through the tunnels together as a family to the mystic garden. The garden was beautiful and the closest thing I have to home now that I had to move from Hawaii to Mexico. Their wasn't many witches in Mark's kingdom, so I teach the young vampires about which herbs and plants to stay away from. I miss my coven, and I missed being their high priestess. Whenever I use magic my eyes still glow since I'm still a high priestess. I just don't have a coven.

The garden was built on ancient magic, and sometimes you could encounter spirits of the past. They were always friendly in my case. They say if you can see their ghosts that you are destined to do great things. I believed it because I had Allyson. That was my great thing, surviving giving birth to a child. My sweet baby. My life was perfect. My Allyson was perfect and so was my husband. We were a perfect little family.

Mark was never abusive until tonight though. I think it has something to do with what happened when me, Ally, and my brother in law, Michael, went to the garden without Mark. He had a meeting and made his half brother come along with us. Michael and I talked and joked with one another. The conversation was light and easy since we were already good friends at this point. Everything was like a normal day until we made it to the mystic garden.

I encountered the spirit of a witch, and her name was Ester Rolle. She was an older woman when she died. She looked to be in her seventies. She smiled "Good morning." She spoke. Her voice was deep and mesmerizing. It had somewhat of a southern twang to it. For some reason, I felt drawn to her. I sat down, and she joined me. Ally and Michael continued their walk.

Me and Ester sat for some time talking with each other. She told me about the life she lived. Her family specialized in green magic. Her father was a farmer, and her mother was a story teller. One of her favorite story was about a yellow eyed vampire who was destined to save them from a life of servitude. Unfortunately, it never came true, considering most of them are dead. Well in a sick and morbid way, they were freed from that lifestyle because they're dead.
