Ricky's POV:

It's been a few days since E.J and I last talked over text message and I'm worried, no I'm anxious, and scared. I think that I scared him off when I asked him if he was embarrassed to talk to me in school and be my friend in school instead of just through text messages.

It's been hard to sleep knowing that I scared my crush away.

And I really wanted to send him a text message a few days ago but I didn't want to sound needy or desperate so that's why I'm still waiting for him to text me first.

I also didn't text him yesterday since it was valentine's day. He doesn't even know that I'm gay.

Ugh why would I even think about texting him on valentine's day if we're just friends?

But the good thing is that I'm here for his first Varsity Lacrosse game and I plan on sitting in the middle of the bleachers where I can get the best view. But my only problem is that I have Big Red with me.

"Big Red, do we have to sit here to watch the game?" I point to the left hand side of the school field bleachers and notice that my best friend has choose to sit on this side of the bleachers and is saving spots for what looks like two other people who are sitting with us.

I hope that he didn't invite his parents because that would be a disaster for me. And I think that his mom is doing concessions for PTA so maybe we're good for now.

"Nini and Kourtney are sitting here and I told them that I would hold their spots for them while they went to get food and drinks," I hear him mumble while I watch him play a game on his phone.

"Oh, I didn't know that you were holding this space on the bleachers for them." I quickly take a seat next to him on the uncomfortable metal bleachers and watch him play a racing game on his phone.

"Yeah, they got here minutes before I did. What took you so long in the bathroom? Was there a line or something?,"

"There was a line," I mumble to him and notice Nini and Kourtney approach us.

I first notice that Nini's got her hands behind her back and her cheeks are a bright red color probably from the cold.  She has a fuchsia colored hoodie on and a petite pom pom hat on her head.

It's cold outside so I understand why she's dressed in winter clothes to watch a lacrosse game.

I don't even know how E.J can play lacrosse when it's 46 degrees out in the beginning of February.

I guess that he's used to playing sports in the cold weather. I think that he mentioned that to me before.

"Hey, uh Ricky can we please talk in private during halftime?" I feel Nini nudge my shoulder after I hear a whistle noise coming from the noise.

I assume that the whistle means that the game has started.

I don't know a thing about lacrosse but I'm here to support E.J, even though he's sending me mixed signals in our text messages.

"Ricky? Hello?" I watch Nini as she places her hand on top of mine since she's sitting on the other side while Big Red is I guess watching the game.

I'm not sure if my best friend is here to watch the game or looking for that Ashlyn girl who is supposed to be on the dance team with Gina, but it doesn't matter now since I'm only looking out for one person, E.J Caswell.

"Huh? What did you say?" I quickly notice that her hand is on mine and watch her quickly remove it as if she never meant for it to happen.

"Can we talk during half time?" I hear her whisper in my ear and watch her cheeks turn even and brighter red color from embarrassment.
