“You ready?”
“Yeah, I'm just...scared.”
The foggy mirror glowed brighter than it ever had before, light shinned through the mist and onto your eyes almost blinding you in the process.
“What about?”
“I mean, what if it doesn’t work? And if it does, how different is it out there? Will...will it know I’m gone?”
He frowned at your reference, cupping your cheek he towered above you. “Dearest. I came here to save you. And I’ll be damned if I let that beast take you away from me.”
You moved his hand away slightly uncomfortable with the attention but held it between yours. “O-okay...I think I’m ready.” He lead you towards the light with his hand firmly wrapped around yours. You shielded your eyes as it got brighter and a ringing began. Suddenly, you fell. Brightness surrounded you as your eye adjusted to the new setting. Familiar items surrounded you as you lifted yourself up. “We’re...back in the mansion?”
“Well, you were trapped here.” Mark helped you onto your feet as you looked around, everything was just how it was left. But old. Really old. There were cobwebs at every corner and cranny, the smell of old furniture and a dusty feeling had you on the verge of sneezing.
"How long was I trapped in there…?" You asked wearily. Mark didn't answer for a second, then opened his mouth reluctantly.
"...about 100 years."
You didn't answer for a second, in disbelief or shock? You didn't know. At first you thought the was messing with you.
“Mark, I’m serious.”
“I am too, darling. Look.”
He pulled out…Something. It was rectangular with light emitting from it. Your eyes barely adjusted to the brightness before reading the text. “May 5th, 2019” You began to put the information together like puzzle pieces in your head. This new technology must actually be something from the future. (Well, technically present.) And it would explain why the house looks so old. Has that thing really trapped you here for that long?
You felt tears running down your face before you had even realized you were crying. Hurriedly, Mark whipped your cheek with his sleeve and held you. “Its gonna be okay, I know its alot to take in right now but you can do it.” You just silently cried before Mark interrupted the depressing silence that gleaned over you both. “Don’t worry about anything, I have a place to stay and friends that can help us.” He pulled you away from his body and looked you dead in the eyes. “But first, y/n, I have to ask you a favor.” “What is it?” You said.
He pulled out a piece of paper and showed something like a map with boxes and lines connected to each other.
“We’re going to do a heist.”
