"Hey," the girl says, "I'm Grace." Putting a sly smile on his face, "Hey," Ryder replies. He sees Caleb staring at them from across with his friends. He has a confused expression on his face, a deep yearning in his deep blue eyes, only for a moment. He turned away to face Nick, standing with his girl best friend, Cami. Ryder turns to continue his conversation with the curly haired girl in front of him.
"So are you here with Heritage too?"
"Yes," she replied with a smile growing on her face, "I'm in Aptitude from Lakeside. You're in Showcase, right?" His eyes grazed with happiness.
"Yes," he replied with a smile. His eyes turned back to his roommates, now very close and deep in conversation. He sighed and looked at the floor, forgetting that he was talking to Grace.
"Something wrong?" she questioned.
"No..." he replied quickly, shaking his head. "I think I have to get back to my room. I'll see you around?"
"Oh, okay. Can I have your number?" she asked with a grin.
"Yeah, sure!" he answered with a smile. After they exchanged numbers, he ran over to Laney, his girl best friend. "Bro you won't believe what just happened" Ryder said excitedly. He said continued to tell her all about the encounter with the girl named Grace.
" I thought you liked Caleb and Nick?", she asked with an eyebrow raised. He looks down to the floor, the smile dropping from his face.
"Yeah...I think they might like each other," Ryder replied.
"I've seen the way they look at you Ryder, I think it might be the other way around," Laney replies with a empathetic smile.
Just then Mr. O'connell comes to usher us to bed. Ryder sullenly walks to his room, not daring to talk or make eye contact with any of the boys. Thankfully, I was the first one to get to the room, so I decided to treat myself to a shower. I hop in and start thinking. Could they really like me? Is Laney right? She's almost always right... The hotel door opening awakes me from my thoughts. They're here.
