That evening the Bridgertons head out to Benedict's house for supper. All but Gregory. He finds Lillian in Hyicthnc room and comes up from behind and wraps his arms around her waist. “I missed you today. I wished we had tea just the two of us. Hyicthnc is always pushing herself in my life.” he says kissing Lillian's neck. “Well technically I am Hyicthnc's maid, so you pushed yourself into her life. And you know we can't have lunch just the two of us and we shouldn't miss eachother, there isn't an ‘us’. I thought this was just stress relief?” Lillian says pulling herself away from Gregory and continues making the bed. “Well what if I want there to be an ‘us’?” Gregory says reaching for Lillian's hand. Lillian turns around quickly and snaps at Gregory, “Do you really want there to be an ‘us’? Do you know what that would do to your family? What a scandal it will be I can see it in Whistledown now. ‘Gregory Bridgerton is have an affair with his sister's maid.’ I will never be able to find work after that and do you think your brother will keep me on, there is not a chance in this world that would happen and I need to work. My family needs me to work, that's something I don't think you understand. And no mother will want her daughter to marry you after. And there is no way your brother will ever slow us to wed.” Lillian knows she is crying and she knows what she said is true, but she can't help but feel hurt. Gregory pulls her into a hug to console her, “If you want there to be an ‘us’ I'll find away for there to be an ‘us’.
