"Life in the future is limitless" is what I thought. "Life is so much better in the future."Well that couldn't be further from the truth. Life in the future is hard, dark, and sad. You have to fight to survive here. What I'd give to see even a little bit of my old life.
In my old life me and my family, we worked hard collecting scraps around the city and fixing faulty machinery. .
And when I say family I really just mean my mother and my older brother. Though saying we all worked hard would be a lie. My brother mostly just ran around with neighborhood gangs causing trouble. Then he proceeded to bring that trouble home to our little apartment, or should I say basement of an apartment building.
We lived under the luxurious hotel known as The Hideaway. Since so many people live on this planet you have to make space wherever you can. We were crammed in like sardines in the bottom of a hotel that had plenty of space for rich people but not sad little bums like myself. We weren't even allowed to use the main entrance to the hotel. They specially made a way for the scum of this city to enter.
I wish I was back in those times even though they were hard it was better then now..

--Let's Get Started-
Y/ns Family Workshop:
'This here and...that..there? Yea there that's right, I mean of course it's right. I'm always right.' I'm tinkering with a little robot I found in a tin garbage can on the side of the road.
'Poor little guy why would anyone throw you out.' I pull out my hovering magnifying glass and put it over the circuit board on the little machine. 'Ah there's the problem, someone soaked your insides with...well I'm not really sure what.'
I swivel around in my old desk chair over to my pile of unorganized tools and spare parts. 'Where are you............
..Ah there you are.' I pick up the guts of an old cleaning machine that someone threw out. 'Such wasteful people.'As I look over the parts in my hand, my mother comes into the shop looking around squinting trying to find my form in the room.
"There you are, Y/n you're supposed to be helping out Mr. Lodscon what are you doing in here?" She says still squinting in my directions, I doubt she can even see me.
"Are you messing with junk again? Did that talk we have not even process through your head again." She rubs her temples in frustration.
'Yes this'll do perfectly.' Completely oblivious to my mother's presence I swivel back over to the little bot on my desk. 'Here..and there...and wait no over here....red with bl..huh no what am I thinking, yellow with red idiot..'
"Hey! Don't touch that mom!" My mother had slowly made her way towards me dodging all my junk around the workshop and swiped up my screwdriver I had in my hand.
"Y/n! You're not even listening to me!" She yells while throwing the screw driver behind her into another pile of scraps.
"What are you even talking about?? You didn't even say anything." I groan out in annoyance as I pull out another screwdriver from my overalls pocket.
'Does she think I'm psychic or something? That I can read minds?? I'm pretty sure I'd have heard her if she said something.' I roll my eyes as I get back to work on the bot.
