Last-Minute Thing

In addition to three-hour autograph signing, a rehearsal of a performance that would be aired on a TV show, promoting their album on radio stations and talking about their journey in the band: their experience, friendships, music industry, personal life, solo projects, and so on as special guests in a podcast episode, the guys would have to deal with a last-minute scheduled event, an interview.

They didn't know much about it. When they are interviewed, their manager kind of knows what they might be asked, as he gets the questions that the interviewer will ask, so they prepare and rehearse the answers. But this time that didn't happen, they only received a sheet of paper with the topics the interviewer was going to ask, but not the questions, and that was very obvious in that interview that was conducted online.

"It must be difficult for you to talk about splitting-up when you've been together as a band for over 7 years".

"The thought of even thinking that someone ain't comfortable in the band anymore, you dread it. Whether it's someone else or even yourself. We've all been there and it's not easy." Tristan confessed.

"The bad thing is when you find out until someone's already written a song about it." Brad took the hint from James at that moment. The smile on his face faded to a scowl on his face and he gave an immediate response without even a second thought.

"Sometimes it's hard for some people to talk about what's going on in their head." It had really bothered him that James had commented on a subject that was very personal.

"You overwhelm yourself. But when you tell the people who love you, you realise that they share the same insecurities, thoughts, fears and even feelings, because they have been through it too. And people will help you because they love you. That's when you realise that you are important and that you can count on them whenerver you need it. Won't judge you, you overthink and that's what's really going on." Connor responded immediately when realising that the atmosphere was becoming tense, but he never imagined that his response, apart from reassuring his friend, would backfire.

"That's for sure." Tris and James agreed with him.

"Connor, you mention about being supportive and making each other feel safe, that's a very nice thing to do..."

"Yeah." Connor said waiting for the upcoming question.

"The relationship you have with your friends is special. Apart from having a friendship like the one you guys have, is there anyone special in your life these days?"

Connor gave the interviewer a fake smile. He just wanted to make it clear to the media not to meddle in the personal lives of artists, but before he could do so, his curly-haired friend answered to get him out of the situation he'd gotten himself into just because of a question he replied to.

"It's me and only me, who else would it be, he loves me, why would he want anyone else when he's got Brad Simpson? I'm irreplaceable." Brad replied wryly as he hugged Connor from behind. His arms wrapped around the younger man's body, he rested his head on his friend's shoulder and looked directly, for a couple seconds, into the camera.

In the same position he was in, he turned his head, his gaze locked on Connor's face, waiting for him to play along. Their gazes finally met. Brad gave a smile to his friend, who smiled back in return, reassuring him that he was fine.

"Whatever you say, love."

"It's me, see?" Connor lost physical contact with Brad, who threw his hands in the air and did a ridiculous dance to celebrate his friend's response.

"Yeah, you!" They both intoned those two words, which inadvertently worked to deflect the topic.

"Guys, we're running out of time. Do you think you can sing us a song?"

Brad received a guitar in his hands that Joe, their manager, handed him so as not to waste any more time.

"This is for you, babe." Brad winked at Connor, playing dumb to keep the interviewer from asking questions that would make them uncomfortable.

The last thing recorded of that interview was Brad getting that "you're a fool" look from the younger man.
