How Sonic became R3GR3T.exe

In this Sonic universe, Sonic gets his ass handed to him by one of Eggman's robots. It was somehow faster, and stronger than Sonic himself.. He thankfully had help from his friend Tails in the end, but it still stung a deep place in Sonic's heart..He.. He couldn't beat EGGMAN alone, like he used to.. The thought angered the hedgehog, and after Eggman fled, Sonic ran off in a fury. Tails couldn't catch his best friend in time to consult him, and sadly watched the blue blur run into the forests of Greenhills..

After what seemed like forever, Sonic started to get tired, and stopped. Wait, HE was getting tired? Dammit! Was he losing his touch? As he thought this, he punched a tree, and groaned in pain. Great, now he couldn't even punch a tree without feeling pain! This angered him more, and the hedgehog kicked a boulder next to him.. Which caused it to crack in half.
As the boulder cracked, a glowing red light was seeping through. Curious, Sonic approached, and saw 2 glowing red rings sitting in a small cave. This was odd.. Sonic approached the rings with caution , then noticed a sign that read;
"If anyone finds these, these rings will grant any wish. But, it is one wish per ring.. Do NOT use more than one ring on yourself. You've been warned.."
The sign didn't have any indication of who wrote it, but Sonic was curious. He carefully picked up the rings, and stared..
'One wish per ring, huh?' , Sonic thought. 'Maybe I could give one to Tails! He deserves it after today..'. He wondered exactly what would happen, so, Sonic held the rings close, and quickly ran back to his home.

It was dark by the time Sonic returned home. He was greeted with a note, and some chili dogs on his porch. The note said;'Hey Sonic, I hope you're feeling better about that fight with Eggman. I told everyone that you were upset about it, so they wouldn't bother you. Also, I made you some chili dogs to help ya out!
Sincerely, your best pal, Tails!'

'He did WHAT??' Sonic thought, angered that Tails would tell everyone he got his ass kicked by Eggman. Sonic crumpled up the note, then picked up the food. It was still hot, but Sonic wasn't hungry. He was angry, but then remembered the rings..
'One wish per ring'.. He quickly ran inside, locking his front door. Sonic tossed the dogs in the garbage, too angry with Tails to even think about eating. He then grabbed one of the glowing red rings, setting the other on his kitchen table. Sonic stared at the ring for a while, deciding whether or not he should use it.. And what would his first and only wish be? The hedgehog thought.. Then remembered that he wasn't that strong.. He'd like to be stronger than Eggman's bots, and to win every fight..

Sonic held the ring tightly..Closed his eyes, then said aloud;"I wish I was stronger than any bo-.. No... stronger than anyone!" He felt the ring vibrating in his hand. He opened his eyes, and saw the ring slowly disappearing, but absorbing into Sonic's arms. Sonic could FEEL himself getting stronger.. And it felt great! He looked at his couch, and lifted it up. It weighted nothing! Literally like nothing! He was so excited! Sonic went to pick up other heavy items in his home, and found they also weighed nothing. He KNEW he could defeat Eggman's bots now.
Sonic then glanced at the other ring, the red glow getting his attention.. The hedgehog thought;'I WAS gonna give this to Tails.. But, since he blabbed to everyone about my near loss.. Maybe I'll just keep this wish for me as well..' Sonic smirked, then grabbed the ring. Tails didn't NEED the wish.. The blue blur himself did.. Sonic knew EXACTLY what he'd wish for too.. The hedgehog held the ring tightly, shaking slightly.. Then he closed his eyes, and said aloud; "I wish.. I was faster than ANYTHING in this world.."

Sonic could feel the ring vibrating once again.. And watched the ring absorbing into his legs.. But.. This felt, different.. He didn't feel his legs getting stronger.. He felt them.. Growing? And cracking?? The hedgehog screamed in pain as he fell to the ground, and as he reached for his legs, he saw the rings were now on his wrists.. And it felt like they were pulling his arms off.. Which they were. As Sonic felt his new strong arms being ripped from his body, he looked down to see that his legs were cracking, growing, and morphing into what looked like.. Hooves? Hooves with heavy metal plates. He couldn't even lift one off the ground..
As Sonic screamed in pain, his body being ripped apart, and morphing, he heard a voice, coming from the rings on his wrists.. It said 'One wish per ring.. You broke this rule, and now you shall suffer the consequences..'As Sonic closed his eyes, he began to cry, his tears turning into blood. He tried to scream again, but he felt bandages cover his mouth suddenly. He looked up, seeing the rings glow brighter as they fully tore his strong arms off. He screamed a muffled scream, as he watch his arms floating there, blood flowing out..
He then watched the rings take his arms, and suddenly, and painfully fuse his arms to two of his large quills. As he watched this, Sonic felt lightheaded, and passed out..

The hedgehog slowly opened his eyes, groaning in pain. Sonic slowly stood up, feeling that his legs were heavy. He figured that the fight really messed him up. He had also had a weird dream that involved some wish granting red rings, and him being ripped apart? Weird was an understatement..
Sonic realized that he just wasn't himself yesterday.. He needed to see Tails and talk to him.. Sonic felt awful for getting angry towards his best friend.. As he headed towards the bathroom, he walked past a full body mirror he had, and glanced at it. He stopped.. His eye widening.. Sonic walked closer, and screamed. But the scream didn't leave his mouth.. It left his eye sockets.. Or, at least that's what they used to be.. Now, his sockets were filled with large, disturbing teeth.. Every time he spoke, they would move.. Sonic has only then realized that his eye, was now on his chest. He blinked, and saw that yes, it was definitely his eye.. He went to rush for his phone for help, but also noticed that.. His legs.. His precious, speed demon legs.. Were now long, heavy, metal plated hooves. He could barely lift his legs now. Sonic reached to touched his legs, but saw one final part of his transformation.. His hands on his torso were gone.. And were now large, sharp, and fused into his quills on the back of his head.. And the red rings were attached to his new wrists.
"W-What is happening??" Sonic cried out. Then, he heard the same voice from the night before.. Coming FROM the red rings..
'This, is your punishment, Hedgehog.. You broke the only rule given.. Now, you'll suffer.. Forever..'
Sonic began to breath heavily. He then started to try and rush for the phone for help again, but his hooves stopped him. Sonic had to slowly make his way over, before eventually reaching the phone.The hedgehog went to grab the phone, when it suddenly shattered in his grasp. Sonic gasped, his hands quivering.. He barely grabbed it.. What happened? The voice spoke again.
'You wanted strength, so you got it. But, you became greedy.. Your eyes became hungry with power, and your heart was blinded by greed.. Instead of sharing this gift with your friend.. You kept it for yourself.. And lost the only thing that kept you moving forward..But, at least you're now stronger than anyone~'Sonic glanced at his legs, and began quaking.. He fell to his knees, and began to cry. Sonic... P Couldn't run anymore.. He lost his one gift that made him Sonic. Now.. He was nothing... But a monster.. A hideous, greedy, but regretful monster..
He had to leave.. Sonic HAD to leave his home, and hide in the forest. Somewhere.... He knew that his friends wouldn't recognize him.. And would probably kill him.. Sonic stayed in his house all day, hearing his friends try to visit him.. He had to lie, and say that he was just feeling kind of sick.. And that he'd see them tomorrow..
But, as night fell, and Sonic's friends all went to sleep.. Sonic managed to get out of his house, and slowly, but tearfully, head towards the forest.. During this time in the forest, Sonic would try to find new ways to end his life. Whether it was falling from a HUGE cliff, having a rock crush him, or trying to eat something poisonous to kill him.. But nothing worked.. The rings would always bring him back. He had spent many years, alone, constantly crying, begging for the rings to left him just die.. But they wouldn't.. And Sonic knew this..

Sonic never did find out who, or WHAT was speaking to him through the red rings.. All he knew, was that they were going to torment him, forever..

As the years went by, Tails would go into the forest searching for his lost friend, calling his name and crying for Sonic to please come home, and that they all missed him. Tails was getting older, but no less determined to find Sonic, and bring him home safely..Meanwhile, Sonic would watch his fox friend from a distance, and he'd cry softly.. The hedgehog would then turn around, and rush away into the forest..
