I grabbed Sasha's arm.
"What is it, Ruby?" She asked.
"I-I s-saw m-mmy mom and dad." I stammered. "They got in the elevator." By habit, my eyes traveled to my arms. Covered in bad memories. "I can't be here," I said through tears that I was trying so hard to hold back. "We can meet Stray Kids another day." I rushed out the door, pulling out my phone to call Chan, with Sasha close behind me.
"Chan?" I whispered, my voice breaking.
"What's wrong, princess, is everything okay?" He asked, concern in his tone.
"Um, yeah, I just can't make it to the hotel. Um, you can come to my house? If you want. I'm sorry, something happened."
"Yeah, I'll be right over, don't you worry. And stop crying, save the tears and sadness for when I'm there to hold you." He hung up and I felt a rush of gratitude for my boyfriend, which was a relief compared to the anxiety clawing my throat.

I sat on the couch patiently, waiting to hear the knock at the door. I toyed with the hem of my sweater and stared at the pile of snotty tissues I had created on the coffee table. A blnket was wrapped around my petite shoulders.
Knock, knock. I jumped up at the sound and ran to the door and threw it open. There was Chan, looking like he arrived in a ray of sunshine. I threw my arms around him and sniffled, so grateful that he was there. His strong arms wrapped around me.
"Hey, hey, talk to me. What happened?"
We sat on the couch and I started telling him everything.
"When I was younger and I lived with my parents, um..." I trailed off, nervous. Chan grabbed my hand, which gave me strength to keep going. "They had a lot of problems with each other. But they couldn't get a divorce since they were in the public eye." Chan gave me a confused look. "My dad owns a big business. Anyway, they refused to go to a counselor, so instead they took their frustrations out on me. They would hit me with my dad's belt, pull my hair, slap me. One time they even cut my arm." I buried my face in Chan's comforting shoulder and took a deep breath. "When I walked into your hotel today, I saw them getting in the elevator. And everything came rushing back, and I couldn't be there. I'm truly sorry."
"I'm so sorry, Ruby. I wish I had known you then so I could've protected you. But at least I know you now, and I promise, I will keep you safe and no one will ever lay a hurtful hand on you again," Chan spoke, looking into my eyes. "I love you."
Tears spilled out of my eyes, falling on Chan's hands which were cupping my face. I hugged him again, my arms with their faded scars holding him tightly. "I love you too."

It felt like I held the entire world in my arms at that moment. Although I guess Chan was my world at the time, considering how he was giving me the will to breathe and live. If I didn't have him that day, I truly don't think I would've been okay.

Chan and I were laying on my bed a few weeks later, holding hands and staring at the glow in the dark stars on my ceiling. He was due to go home to Korea in about a week since his tour was almost over.
"Chan, we need a song," I decided.
"Okay, what do you want it to be?" He asked, propping himself up on one arm to look at me.
"Something by you. Stray Kids. So that every time I listen to it, I think of you." I laid on my side staring at him.
"I have a better idea," Chan smiled.
"Yeah, and what's that?" I replied, playfully shoving his chest.
"I am going to make you a song."
Tears welled up in my eyes. "No, Chan, really? You're so adorable, I love you."
"I love you, too," he said, kissing the tip of my nose
