The Early Hours

Sayaka's POV

I was in the room, picking out some movies to watch. Mukuro's pretty much open to anything, so we usually pick the worst movies and just make fun of them the entire night. Leon was quick to pick things out, making it a blast for us while we counted down the hours.

Mukuro walked in, and I realized this was the first time I've seen her all day.

I ran up to her and wrapped my arms around her, leaving her a bit stunned.

"Hi!" I heard her laugh, returning my hug and planting a kiss on my head before letting go. I watched her put one of Mikan's signature care packages down on the counter.

We did some schoolwork, courtesy of Kyoko bringing in assignments for everyone for her dad. Luckily, she didn't have to do the job alone, as Chiaki and Kaede helped their respective classes. We were talking for a bit, and Mukuro said something that surprised me.

"So...ever heard of Starbucks?"

"Oh. My. God." I replied. "Please don't tell me you just went today for the first time."

"Well," Mukuro said, looking away and we laughed. Especially with a sister like...I caught myself, trying not to finish the thought. I just wonder how she hasn't been to Starbucks before.

Before we know it, it's 8 pm. Leon walks through the door, his backpack slinging over his shoulder. Against any other thing he could've said, he chose:

"What's up lesbians?"

I heard Mukuro do her signature "laughing" sigh as I chuckled a bit.

"You always know how to make an entrance, Leon." Mukuro said, placing her cup of tea down.

After some catching up, watching in awe as Mukuro made a detailed "battle plan" for the night, we had passed about 30 minutes. Somebody's phone started to ding ferociously, and Leon glanced at his screen.

"God f-ing damnit." I heard him say, typing something.

"What's up?" I said, turning my head around.

"It's Mondo. Yasuhiro did something incredibly stupid and needs help.

"How stupid?" Mukuro asked, her interest peaking.

"Fucking full-on neaderthal." He replied, his face not even changing as he said that catchphrase of a sentence. He looked at me and then back to Mukuro, as if asking if we'll be alright. Mukuro nodded in understanding.

"We'll be able to get help if we need it, go help Hagakure." She said, notably using Yasuhiro's last name to distance herself from him.

Leon took the stuff he brought out of his backpack and set it on the table next to Mikan's care package. "Take care!" He yelled, almost slamming the door as he ran out.

"So it's just us-" Mukuro started, looking at her battle plan she would have to revise.

I cut her off. "We can make it!" I said, standing up quickly and startling her with determination. "Y-yeah!" She said, after coming back to reality.

9:30 PM

Mukuro's POV

"I'll admit, watching bad movies isn't as fun with Leon around." I said, grabbing the remote and exiting the crappy Netflix original we had stumbled upon.

"Yeah," Sayaka sighed, and slumped down with her head around my chest. She looked up at me and smiled. "But I do like the alone time between us!"

I blushed and looked away, caught off guard by her. "Y-yeah, me too!" I said, looking back at her.

We looked through the Disney + Catalog, (because money really can buy you all the streaming services you want,) and decided on The Little Mermaid, because it was a favorite of Sayaka's. I didn't really watch movies, but if I did, it wouldn't matter. This is Sayaka's night, so I would watch anything that she wanted to.

10:53 PM

Sayaka's POV

After the movie ended, I looked up at the clock. The hands pointed at 10:53, as the small red seconds ticked down faster and faster.

I gulped my fear down, but obviously not quiet enough, since I could feel Mukuro shake me a bit to get my attention. I whipped my head around to face her pale blue eyes. "It's going to be okay." She said, smiling. "We're gonna be just fine, okay?" I looked down at her hand, navigating the blanket to find mine. After she did so, our fingers interlaced.

"You got it?" She said, looking at me.

"I got it!" I said, blinking back tears.
