"I like you."

The sound of your own voice resonates as you take in his expressions, desperate to see if he would light up with a smile or stare down at you with a pitiful look.

A few seconds pass and you could no longer bear to keep staring at the face of the person who holds your destiny. You look down at your feet, ready to break down and let your anxiety let loose through tears which felt like acid rain on your cheek as they slowly came down. White noise fills your ears as the rest of your body begins to numb.

And gosh he hasn't even rejected you yet but you just know he was going to.

But..

But just when you think you have lost your five senses, his low breathless voice calling out your name engulfs your system, washing your fears away like a piercing wave flowing onto an unsuspecting shore.

His fingertips felt cold as they grasped the slightest point of your cheeks, gesturing you to look back up while holding onto you like you were a precious porcelain doll, that was breaking apart on his hands.

"I love you"

Now it was you whose limbs had frozen upon the words that left his mouth, those words that you had always dreamt of him saying. Those words he had once told you once when you helped him out with his physics homework a few minutes before class started.

"I love you way more than I'm supposed to. I took in every little thing you did and wanted to be only around you for the past year. I feel like a fool right now because love is something which is so serious but I cannot see myself loving anyone else but you."

It was you who felt completely breathless even though Minghao was the one who had just confessed deeply to you in a single breath.

"Xu Minghao" He moves his hands from your cheeks and joins them with your hands as he anticipates what you would tell him. "I love you way more than I'm supposed to as well."

His face lights up along with yours and he pulls you into a long, warm embrace, filling your soul up with joy and comfort. In the end it did not matter whether you loved him more than he loved you, it only mattered that his love was all that you needed to keep going on, especially now that it was mutual and no longer platonic.

You know that you've never been happier, as he walks you home, his hand in yours, with your eyes no longer longing for him, as he was yours, as much as you were his.

Fin.
