"I'm not an average girl, actually I'm anything but the sort. This is not a story of the shy, quiet school girl becoming popular, or my vampire boyfriend coming to my rescue at every waking moment. I'm a real adult, with real problems. Problems that normal people wouldn't have to deal with. Problems that when you think of them, they give you chills. No, this is not that type of story. This is a nightmare, a pain that won't go away."

"You're not an adult Viv, what you are is delusional" Breyer laughs as she walks away. I turn back towards the mirror on my wall. Breyer is younger than me what does she know. And who does she think she is, reciting things to me she can't even spell.

"Breyer you're eight years old... Not thirty. What would you even know?" I walk towards her as she's still laughing. The only reason why I say this is because I'm old enough to know that she doesn't recognize the signs of a toxic household. If only she could understand the arguments that happen at night. While she fast asleep in a clod of dreams.

"Just because you're-" she begins to count on her fingers.

"Four years older than me, DOESN'T mean I can't comprehend life" I laugh, but I'm also impressed. Breyer is definitely intelligent, this much is true. But she just so happens to be lacking in street smarts.

"Breyer that's not what I'm trying to say okay. It's just that.... You don't see nor hear mom and dad late at night. Now and days it just seems as if they always fight... Sometimes I feel they don't love each other anymore" she stops laughing at this point.

"Come on Viv... We don't know that. We're too young for all of that. We don't even understand. I can't understand that. Our love family wise is different from their love... Relationship wise? And we don't understand that love yet... So lets not make judgement okay? Stay happy!" She placed her palm on my shoulder...

Like I said... Definitely intelligent, yet lacking in the common department.

"I won't make any judgments Breyer, but you have to realize... That you're also not understanding the way I am. I'm just worried that's all..." I say as I turn back towards the mirror. No she doesn't know. She couldn't even begin to comprehend it. I may be imagining things, but I swear I saw mother hit father.

So the question stands what does she really know? Just a facade of who mom really is. You don't hit someone you love.... I don't hit Breyer? I would never! I love her too much.

"Viv, you're twelve years old. I know they say children should stay out of adult business.... But I think they say that for a reason. you're worried and you shouldn't be..." Breyer stops for a split second and then smiles

"Now can we just go play like you promised me!! I've been waiting ALL day." I take one more glance in the mirror before turning back towards Breyer. I give her a small but reassuring smile.

Breyer is my rock in this flimsy world. She's honestly the most innocent person I've ever met. And I couldn't ask for any other perfect younger sister.

Our parents raised us well. Actually all of us, and by all I mean three. I have an older brother as well. His name is Mike. I don't really know how that story goes but he's older than me. Mom and Dad say he's off to college now. That's supposed to be after you graduate high school. So I guess he's pretty old. Sadly and unfortunately I've only ever met him just a few times.

Dad continues to say that, by the time I turned five Mike had already been in high school and about to graduate. Mike, like myself and Breyer, is really smart. He graduated early, at the top of his class, AND as Valedictorian..... What ever that means? But it sounded kind of cool when Dad was explaining it to me.

Even though I didn't grow up with my older brother Mike, I still sort of idolize him. He became so much at a young age, and I can only hope I'm the same way.

"HELLLOOO!!" Breyer snaps her fingers in my face to get my attention.

"I'm sorry Bry, yes I will still play with you. So what would you like to do first." I notice that Breyer just looks at me. She's not saying saying anything either, yet she just takes my hand instead.

"We'll always have each other okay?" and that's all she says. Breyer may not seem like it, but she's an entirely big softie. As well as gorgeous and smart. That's why I love her so much. She may just be my little sister, but Breyer means everything to me. Without her I don't think I'd be sane.

Our family is more than intelligent. Just being apart of the family is enough to satisfy me dearly.

"Anne! Unique! Come down now and eat your lunch!" I hear my father yell from downstairs.

"Awe man! Viiiiv we missed our chance to play" Breyer pouts. I let out a chuckle. I give her one big, cushy hug.

"Okay, okay, okay!" Breyer struggles to get out of my grasp.

"Viv! Let goooo! Jeez" Breyer finally manages to escape from my hold. We just look at each other giggling.

"Vivianne and Breyer!"

"Get your butts down here NOW!" My mothers voice follows my fathers, I turn to Breyer big eyed and smiling.

"We'd better go before we get in trouble." Breyer giggles and gives me a playful pinch. She takes off running through the room and down the foyer. I trail closely behind her, following her all the way down the stairs. Breyer takes a sharp left heading towards the back kitchen hallway. I wondered why she brought me through this hallway seeming as we're the only one who use it... It's our safe space when we need to calm down. Breyer stops running. Stopping about a yard away from the back kitchen door.

This hallways is always dimly lit, portraits of our families hanging on each side. Dating generations back. It gives me the creeps, but at the same time I've always felt safe here.... Even just in the foyer. Breyer continues to catch her breath as well as myself. She turns to me.

"Now we can calm down together before we eat" She says with a smile on her face. I figured she let me chase her through here for that reason. I smile as I let out a sigh.

"What would I ever do without you.... Come on let's go eat." As we walk into our kitchen there sits my father, and right in front of him is my mother.

"It took you two long enough! What were you upstairs doing??"  Mom starts to make her way towards Breyer and myself. I turn to Breyer as she turns to me and we start to giggle.

"Wanna let us in on the little secret sunshine." Father releases a very low chuckle of his own. By this time Breyer and I start laughing uncontrollably.

"It's not a secret! We were just playing tag.. Breyer pinched me so I had to chase her." I giggle. Honestly I wouldn't really call, what Breyer and I just did, tag. At eight years old, she had been trying to calm ME down. Maybe she more of a bigger sister than I am.

My mother smirks, I don't think I've ever seen a genuine smile from her. None the less, she's still very gorgeous. I will always know who Breyer and I got our beauty from,

No offense dad.....

As a collective, Breyer and I got our smarts and dashingly good looks from both parents. They both contributed fifty-fifty. Father stands up and slowly makes his way to the both of us.

"Now....WHO'S HUNGRY!" He screams as he tickles Breyer and I. As we scream and try to get out of his grasp, our mother joins in with him as well.

"Okay, Okay, Okay!" I desperately shout.

"No more! Please!" Breyer is now crying while laughing. I guess it has gotten to be too much for her. I giggle and our parents release us from they're tight hold. Mother and Father kneel there while smiling...

It's times like this where I wish they lasted forever.....
