It's 12:15 and I'm late. Stupid traffic. I can't believe it. I planned this flight perfectly so I wouldn't be stuck in traffic. I'm 20 minutes away from the Convention Center and the Ceremony begins in 20 minutes. Only a miracle will get me there before the graduates walk in alphabetical order into the room.

Oh good the traffic is moving.

"Excuse me, could you speed up a little? I'm kind of late for a graduation." I'm sitting in the back seat of a taxi.

"Sorry miss the traffic wont let me move faster than this." My taxi driver answers.

I can't believe this is happening to me. As if what I'm about to face isn't enough. Sh, don't say that. Forget him. Remember, we're here to accompany Abby on her graduation. Yes that's the story I'm telling myself. Oh, but I do wonder how he looks, and how he's been doing. This will be the most awkward thing I'll ever go through. Why did I ever agree to this? I mean he's put me through enough. Oh God, what have I done?

Okay settle down. Focus on Mac. Its her big day. We're all here for her. We're here to show that not even distance has broken our friendship. Ever since last summer I moved to New York I haven't been back home in a year. It feels strange and this taxi isn't making it any easier.

I can see the top of the building from where we are.

"We're near miss. Almost there."

"Thank you" I smile at him and look down at my watch. 10 minutes. Crap. My leg starts twitching and I feel the ball of anxiety in my throat. Breath Alex, breath. Today is not the day to panic. I have all the reasons to, but its not the day.

Before I know it I'm parked outside the Convention Center. I get out of the car stumbling on my feet almost falling.

"Stupid heels" I mumble to myself and the driver smiles. "Thank you for your services. Here is your money, keep the change" I hand him the amount he's asked for. I start running towards the door, but the driver calls me back.

"Miss!" I stop dead on my tracks and turn around. "Yes?" I yell back. "You forgot your bags!"

"Damn it. Could you take them to this address? Someone is waiting for them there" I take a piece of paper out of my black clutch handbag and start scribbling the address.

"No problem"

"Thank you so much" I emphasize on the so. I check my watch 3 minutes to spare. Run. I run towards the door and my phone starts buzzing. It hasn't stopped all afternoon.

What now? I don't have time to answer so I leave it buzzing. I walk through the front doors made out of glass and stainless steal. I make my way across the lobby and pass by a mirror. I step back just to take a glimpse at myself.

I look decent. My red mid-thigh dress is in place and my hair is wavy and messy from the wind, but it looks okay. I step through a Big wooden door.

The room is dark filled with expectant family members and friends. Everyone buzzing at the excitement of their children graduating. This brings back lots of memories. I walk along the back of the room noticing to parallel pillars holding up the roof and a grand stage the end of the room. Its green curtains draped in the back. Those green curtains hold up the school's logo. I keep looking at the families, until I find the one I'm looking for. I here the music start and I make a literal run for it towards Mac's mom.

When she see's me her eyes lit up and she smiles.

"You made it!" I bend down to hug her. I laugh

"Yeah, it was that stupid traffic. I had to get dressed at the airport" I whisper.

I sit next to her and bend forward to say wave at the rest of Abby's family. Then I see them. The parents. Mac's aunt and uncle. Mary waves at me excitedly and Michael smiles fondly at me. I always liked him. I sit back and relax a bit more. I made it. He's not here. That lets me breath a little better.

The teachers start marching and so start the students behind them. Everyone stands up and starts clapping. I'm focused on finding Mac. I haven't seen her in two months and I miss her. Mac's mom, Gemma, starts waving frantically. All this commotion is starting to give me a headache. I don't get why she's so happy. I still can't see Mac. I get on my tip toes to see above the peoples heads but I end up tilting too much and slip forward. Suddenly someone grabs me saving my face from hitting the chair in front of me.

"Are you okay?"The male voice asks me. I knew it was a man because his hands were too strong to hold me like it was. "Oh my goodness, thank yo-" I look up and I see him. I see those hypnotizing brown eyes. He knows me. I know him. We know each other well.
