Johnny, Dallas, and I are at an drive in movie theater, seated behind two girls. A red head and a brunette. Two soc's who attend the same school as I do and both awfully pretty. They don't say much though. Not until Dally opens his trap that is. He's a real loud, rough around the edges type guy. He's awfully proud of his "criminal record" too. He's just tough that way, even if im not exactly a fan of it all the time.
He decides to mess with them both.
Dallas kicks his feet up on the red haired girls chair with a darkened grin. I knew what he was going to do judging by first glance, and my heart sank into my chest. Maybe if it wasn't two soc girls I would've joined right in, but I couldn't this time. A sense of guilt overwhelmed my thoughts as I watched the red-headed girl later named Cherry, turn around after Dally says something dirty. She looked angered yet scared yet her tone remained
steady."Take your feet off my chair and shut your trap." She spoke, returning a cold glare at Dally. But in usual fashion, Dally kept his feet prompt up as before.
"Who's gonna make me, huh?" Dallas returned a leer and sly look at me before continuing eye contact with Cherry, but surprisingly, she didn't back down.
"You better leave us alone.. or I'll call the cops. " She said bitterly.
"Oh my.. you're scaring me." Dallas looked bored. "Maybe I should show you my record sometime.. you'd start to second guessing yourself. You can guess all the things i've been in for."
At this point she seemed even more pissed, and I was already tired of Dally's attitude. Suddenly, I peered over to Johnny. My more quieter and nervous friend. He seemed just as tired as I was but kept his trap shut good, like he always did. Johnny just continued to sip on his coke biting his straw trying to avoid eye contact with the two already annoyed soc girls. As Dally and Cherry continued their argument I found myself observing him. He was really handsome in my opinion, good looking. He wore his hair long and shaggy all around the edges, his eyelashes long complementing his dark almost black eyes that only brightened due to the reflection of the luminous screen that played some beach movie in front of us, but It wasn't the beach movie that I stressed attending that seemed to have sparked my interest..
It was Johnny.
In my trance like state, further more examining the boy, I hadn't noticed that Dally had gone and left, returning with a coke only for it to be splashed into his face by Cherry Valence who was now being grabbed by Dallas. But this was all suddenly interrupted by Johnny.
"Leave her alone, Dal. Play nice just this once."
Everyone goes quiet. Only for a second though.
"What'd You say to me, huh?" Dallas's icy blue eyes only turn sharper almost dark as he clenches his jaw.
"You heard me man, let her be." Johnny responds a little more shakily, seemingly afraid of Dallas's further reaction, but Dally just looked mad. I knew he could never hurt Johnny even if he felt like kicking his head in right now. So in turn, Dally just left mumbling under his breath. A few moments go by and the air is cleared. The four of us began to talk as if we've known each other longer than a little over twenty minutes, and all is well.
