"Y/n come on! We're gonna be late!" Zenitsu yelled. Today, their was a festival going on in town, and we were running to a hill to watch the fireworks. Every time we got the chance, Zenitsu and I would go to events around the village and hang out for hours on end. We mostly stayed together, seeing as we were each other's only friend.
"Hold on a second! I'm not as fast as you are Zenitsu!" I shouted back. He just stopped, turned to me, and laughed. He laughed. "Hey! Stop laughing at me! It's not that funny..." I told him, trying to catch my breath.
I couldn't help the smile that found it's way onto my face as he laughed even more. But I frowned when that laugh died down and he stopped even just smiling; looking at me with a sad expression. "Y/n... I've got very bad news." My mind immediately went to the worst, and what he said next hurt the worst out of everything I was told in my life.
"I have to leave this village... I am being forced to go somewhere else, to do training for something that I sadly can't tell you. I'll be gone for a long time. I'm so sorry!" He said as he brought me into a hug and started crying into my shoulder, and I cried into his. This would be the last time I would see my best friend. My only friend...
He handed me a piece of paper, and, before he ran away to the place he was supposed to go, told me to read it and I might find out what he had to leave to train for. It confused me, until I opened the letter and read it.
"Hello y/n. I'm sorry that I haD to go, but don't worry. I'm somEwhere safe, and I already Miss yOu. I am so upset that I Needed to leave you alone like that, but whatever you do, juSt know that i'Ll be there for you every second of the wAY, even from this distance. I look forward to sEeing you again, and faRewell my dearest friend.

Zenitsu"
I noticed the bold letters, and thought that maybe that's what he meant.

"But that, that spells demon slayer? Is Zenitsu being forced to be a demon slayer!? No! He'll die doing that!" I exclaimed, immediately regretting letting him leave. "I have to find him! I don't care if I have to become a demon slayer myself, I'm going o find Zenitsu again!"
And so my journey began..
That was six years ago.
