"Hey Clara, I need help with these boxes," said Seth form the other side of the storage room. His voice deep but soothing. After the chat in the music room we had to go off and do dumb 'to keep you busy' chores. Mine was to label boxes with god knows what's in it.
"Are you not capable of moving a few boxes by yourself?" I said holding a device which scanned the number on the boxes and a tablet in the other. There are bloody shelves and shelves of this crap.
"If I say yes will come over and help me." said Seth on the same deep voice. I sighed scanning yet another box of random carp. I looked over to my left, I couldn't see him because he was around the corner. I looked back at the box again.
"Yes." I said.
"Then yes." he said more vibrantly. I shook my head. Well at least moving the boxes mean I can get out of this room. I can worry about labelling later. I placed the device and the tablet on one of the boxes and walked over to Seth. The difference in height was funny he was a lot taller and wider than me, but I liked it. You eventually grow out of complaining about how small you are and start to teach yourself how to appear tall and stronger. I looked up and down at the shelves of boxes. "So.... what one do you want me to take?" I asked looking back up at him. He was holding a box and he scanned his eyes over the boxes. "That one" he pointed his chin at the one right in front of me. Handy.
"Yes sir!" I said automatically and he chuckled. The thing about Seth is, even I have to admit, he is a bit scary looking but kind of in a sexy bad boy way I guess. With the dark hair and the sharp jaw line which is straighter then my life.
"Are you coming?" he asked. He was standing by the door getting ready to leave and I'm just standing here staring at him. Why do I have to be so awkward at times.
"Yep." I said, ignoring the last few minutes of my life. I walked behind him but then suddenly he stopped in the middle of the corridor. Looking around him.
"What?" I said puzzled. "Seth there's only me, you and these steel walls"
"Good!" he sounded amused. He dropped the box on the floor and stared walking again. God this day gets weirder and weirder.
"Are you expecting me to carry that too?" I said standing in the middle of the cold airless corridor. Seth turned around with an amused look on his face.
"Just leave yours there too and follow me," he said. I smiled and dropped the box and jogged over to him.
"Since when are you the type to break the rules." I said now walking beside him.
"I am feeling spontaneous." he said with a smirk on his face. What is he up to? After about two minutes we stopped by a door and Seth paused before opening it.
"Stay here till I come out." he ordered. I nodded and he went in. I leaned back against the wall, wondering what he is doing or getting. Before I knew it he was out.
"Well that was...." I looked at the object in his hand.
"Of course." I said looking back to him."You are the one who took the transporter,"
"Yez I am. Are you ready to get out of this hell hole for a bit?" he said with an raised eyebrow.
"You don't need to ask me twice! Lead the way," I replied. He held out his hand and I took it. I squeezed his hand and he smiled at me. He looked down at the transporter and pressed a few buttons, typing out where he wanted us to go. Suddenly the corridor started to come apart in little speckles and they started swirling around us. I closed my eyes. I felt Seth yank my arm a bit to indicate I can open my eyes. We were surrounding by beautiful trees and a cliff right in front of us. I shook my head, I couldn't speak.
"I missed it too but I knew you loved this place a lot more and then Nicky, Jackson and I put together." said Seth. I knew he was staring at me but I just couldn't get my eyes off the sight of the water shimmering form the sunlight and the cliffs tall and mighty as if no one and nothing can every knock them down or destroy their beauty. I let go of Seth's hand and walked over and stood over the cliff, my short blonde hair fell down a head of me.
"Clara as I said you love this place and I know neither of us has being here for awhile but please don't jump off!" he said with a stern voice and I felt his arm wrap around my waist. I giggled because firstly I'm not dumb enough to jump from this height and secondly his warm, strong arm was around my waist. I straighten up and turned to face him. We were quite close to one another.
I leaned my head again his chest. I could hear his heart, a slow steady rhythm. Thump....thump....thump!Thump!Thump!Thump!
"Nicky! Where are you?" I screamed but to no avail. Screams, laughter, moans deafened the forest...how is she meant to hear me. Looking around frantically. Why here? I kept asking myself. I was now running.....bodies everywhere...blood...the stench of blood and other nasty chemicals overwhelming me. They know how much this place means to me. Keep running! Dogging branches, arrows and reaching hands form bodies below me. Hot blood running down my face. Holding onto the one thing ,that might just get us out of here. I held it tightly in my hand, Keep moving! Faster and faster I ran, towards the light, towards to edge of the cliff. "Clara! Clara!" a voice calling my name forms the distance. "Nicky? Jackson? Seth?.......Anyone!!" I screamed.
I Jumped. I was back where I was before. Seth had a worried expression on his face and his hands were on my shoulders shaking me.
"Stop! Please, you're making me dizzy." I said unsure of what just happened.
"You blanked out on me again." He said moving his hands down my arm. The worried expression was still on his face. "This was a bad idea wasn't it?"
"No... no it wasn't. I can't let that experience haunt this place. Granddad..."I paused. "He lived here, as you know. He wouldn't have wanted me...us to remember this place like this." I was looking Seth in the eyes holding back my tears. He leaned his head down towards mine and kissed me gently on the lips and then moved his head an inch a two away.
"We won't nor will we never." he said quietly.
"It did happen though, we can't just erase it." I said.
"I know... but... let's pretend it didn't." he said moving his face closer to mine again.
"Let's pretend" I moved my head up and kissed him.
We sat there awhile on the cliff. I was sitting, leaning against Seth's upright chest. We talked a bit, mostly simple small talk. Although I still couldn't stop thinking about what happened. Granddad was like a real father to me... and he died that day. I feel almost angry that it happened. He should of listened to me... came with me. He was so determined to go back to house to get something. I can't even remember what he wanted to get or even if he told me at all. All I have left of him is the knowledge he passed down to me and that gold snake ring he gave to me on my 10 birthday. I haven't taken it off since.
That was the last stage. It was meant to be the hardest one but I didn't think they would be that cruel. I obviously thought wrong. I pretty much grew up here with Nicky. I still love this place but there's a darkness here that will never leave.
"We should go back now." said Seth his breath at the top of my head. "It's getting late and another alent is starting tomorrow. Plus we may have to..." he paused.
"Have to what?" I asked still staring at the glass sea.
"Nothing let's just go." he said. Too tired to argue with him, I got up and walked down to a clear place so we could transport. I intertwined my fingers with his and closed my eyes waiting to reappear in hell again.
