Stuck Inbetween

Chapter 9

Here it was. The moment I had been dreading. It was time for me to tell Jake about...what I needed to tell him. I walked down the stairs and being as clumsy as I am, I fell and ran into Jake.

"Hey, Whats up buttercup?"Jake asked, pulling me up into his arm and pecking me on the cheek.

"Uhhmm...." I started but couldn't finish I couldn't do this to Jake. I saw Ryan starting down the stairs and he shot me a quick glance. Walking past me, Ryan slipped a note into my pocket. Lucky for me Jake didn't see.

"Hey dude." Ryan mumbled winking at me as he walked past. I slightly smiled and rolled my eyes. Jake gave us a confused face.

"We need to talk.." I grumbled. I grabbed Jakes hand and lead him to the Television room. I knew it would be private because it was on the other side of the house and most of the boys' were either in their room or the arcade.

"Jake I'm going to make this as quick as posible. I can't be with you. I'm sorry. Don't freak because I'm going to tell you the whole truth." Ipaused. Jake was staring at me wide-eyed and a hurt look. A sucked it up and kept going. "Ryan likes me too. A lot. And I can't keep dating you seeing his hurt face. I think we should cut..us...off. B.F.F.A.E.U.W.D.'s? Pwetty pweasssee?" I gave him my puppy dog face through tears. He looked down at his feet.

"How can I resist that?" He loked back up and his eyes were wet. "Sure. But-" He paused. i got worried. "What does...what you just said stand for??" I grinned.

"BFFAEUWD...stand for Best friends forever and ever until we die..."

"Okaay...The doctor was so so right. You are a little loopy. Are you feeling alright? Maybe you should sit down..." He led me to the couch but before I could sit down. My mom rushed into the room with a grin on her face and a phone in her hand.

"Honey! Your first soccer practice is tomorow! That was Todd who just called!" My mom began jumping up and down quickly clapping her hands.

"Thanks mom. If you see all the boys can you ask them to come with me?" Right on que Tristan walked in, head hung low. My mom ignored it and  walked out, a smile on her face.

"Hey, Tris..what's wrong?" I asked.

"Uhh..Milly broke up with me for...." He mumbled something that sounded like muffin.."Its okay though. I'm totaly over it.." He walked off.

"That little..little.." I stopped for lack of words.

"Scumbag?" Jake offered.

"SCUMBAG!" I shouted through the house. "She gonna pay. She gonna pay reeaal bad." I flared my nose as I stared at Jakes surprised face.

"um..okaay..Wanna go hang out with the guys?" Jake asked.

"Um..only if Riley comes over." I litterally flounced out the room. Alone in the kitchen, I let ot a sigh of relief. Jake took it well..

**Jake**

"I can't beleive she broke it off with me..I loved her soso much..." I buried my face deeper in the pillow as tears poured down my face..

**Serenity**

"OK!!!" Riley yelled through the phone. She hung up and four minutes later I heard a car pull up. Riley came inside and I led her to the arcade room. Riley saw Dylan and sent him a flirtacious smile. I elbowed Riley in  the side and mischeviously smiled at her. She shrugged her shoulder and stalked off.Over in the corner the boys were crowded around our old pac-man game..and Wesley was playing. I hope they know how agressive hecan be when it comes to Pac-Man.....

After hours if Riley and I watching the boys play Pac-Man in the arcade room, she finally left. I walked up the stairs to take a nap. After all the shouting of ‘Go! Go! Go! And the chorus of oooh… when someone lost, I had a headache. I lied down, hoping to fall asleep quickly. Sadly, just before I fell asleep, there was a knock at the door.

“Yeah?” I groggily opened my eyes as Todd walked into the room.

“Hey Ren...Sorry if I awoke you, but I have a couple things to ask of you.  First being…A little road trip you might want to go on?” Todd asked.

“A road trip? Where? When? Why? With who? How long? ” I began asking loads of questions.

“Let’s see if I could answer all those…Where? Tennessee. Why? Out of business. I thought you might want to come…You know…you’re a girl..I thought you might need to get outta here for awhile..With who…well just you and me. How long…If you decided to come I figured we could rent a house…because we might be staying there all year with the exception of a week or two we came back to visit. And if you really wanted…we could take Dylan-I mean, I think he is your favorite brother-right?” I listened intently as Todd explained things.

This was the chance I was waiting for. A chance to start my life over! Except that I might actually miss Tristan and Wesley…maybe.

“I would love to! When?” I replied eagerly.

“Well...”Todd started, stretching the word. “That was the other thing I meant to ask you. I would like to marry your mom. I mean, I already asked your brothers and they were happy with it, but seeming you’re the only girl other than your mother in the house, you’re the most important. “

I was shocked. Truly shocked.  Marriage made me think of my father. My vision got blurry and soon I   figured about the tears.

“I won’t say anything if you would like me to wait,” Todd said patting my back, trying to comfort me.

“No, no. I’m happy for mom. I think you should go for it. It would be great having a dad in our house…” Not wanting to let the tears fall I changed the subject back to the…”road trip” we would be having. “So I’m guessing right after the wedding we’ll leave? And, if it’s alright, I would feel more comfortable if Dylan were with me. Does mom know anything about the roadtrip?”

"Well...no. That kind of involves the wedding..." Duh! I thought to myself. " I am taking your mother out to a very nice dinner tonight though so I can-"

"Got it. I'll fix dinner for the boys." I replied quickly. Todd gave me a quick hug and left the room. The minute I heard his footsteps stop at the end of the stairs I squeeled and ran to Dylan's room. I shoved open the door.

"Dylan! I can't wait! You get to come to! Mom's going to get married soon..." I grinned from ear to ear.

"Todd finaly told you?! Wait. Whats this about me coming?"

"Todd said I could bring you on the roadtrip if I felt more comfortable with you around! " I sighed and flopped onto his messy bed. Dylan's room was a total mess. Clothes cittered the floor. You preobaly couldn't even tell if he had a floor..

"wow.." I hardly heard Dylan mumble.

"Dyl, this could be our chance to start over! Leave our troubled pasts behind! All the way to Tennesee! I can't wait to leave!" I exclaimed.

Dylans POV

Serenity was sure excited to leave. Don't get me wrong, I would love to leave to! ...But leaving California means leaving Riley....
