(Y/N) POV

I groaned, flopping down on my bed. Today was one of those days where I was bored. Mom was out buying some cakes because of a letter for Dad from the San Francisco Police Department, Dad was at work, and Ozzy was too tired for us to go into the backyard and play with the frisbee. I had read through all my books gosh knows how many times, and I barely had any entertaining apps on my phone.

Plus, I was too lazy to drag myself down to the living room to turn on the TV and watch (F/T/S).

So all I could really do was stare at the ceiling. At least, until Mom came back. But it's not like she was gonna just walk through the front-

"(N/N)! I'm home!"

Never mind.

I got out of bed and went downstairs to help mom with carrying the cakes. I took one box from her, and shut the door behind us with my foot.

"So, how was it while I was gone?" Mom asked, setting the cake box she was holding onto the table. I shrugged.

"It was boring."

"Oh, (N/N). You think everything is boring." She chuckled. I put the cake box I was holding down with a huff.

"Well, it's not like anything exciting happens around this town. The most exciting thing is when I have to shop away the raccoons who eat the trash." I sighed. Mom shook her head.

"(N/N), they're just hungry."

"Okay, but like, there's other trash cans they can eat from. Their banging always keeps me up at night." I whined. Mom raised a brow.

"Oh, really? Because last time I checked, you always stay up on your phone to play video games." She chuckled. I flinched.

"Touché."

"Well, anyway, what do you saw we go watch (F/T/S) until dad gets home?"

I nodded my head eagerly, and made a mad dash for the remote.

~~~
"Maddie, as Green Hill's most respected veterinarian, what is the fastest way to exterminate a raccoon?" Dad asked as he came through the door.
"Dad!" I ran to greet him with Ozzy.
"Hey, (N/N)! Hey Ozzy!" He pet Ozzy, and pat me on the back. Mom smiled, and got the letter we got earlier.
"What is that? Wait.. is that what I think it is?" Dad asked.
"Yep. Open it." Mom chuckled, handing Dad the letter.
"It's kind of small, though. Is that bad?"
"C'mon, Dad, just open it!" I groaned, wanting to get this over with. Dad took a deep breath, and opened the letter.
"'Dear Thomas, we have reviewed your application to the San Francisco Police Department, and pending interdepartmental review and background check, we are happy to inform you that you have been selected to join our team'!" He exclaimed. Me and mom cheered.
"Wow." Dad breathed. Mom got out a cake box from underneath the counter, and opened it dramatically.
"Ta-Da!" She exclaimed. Dad raised a brow.
"'San Francisco sucks'." He read. I burst out laughing, noticing this for the first time.
"Oops, wrong one." Mom muttered, quickly stuffing that back underneath the counter, and getting the other cake. This one said 'We never had a doubt'.
"You guys never had a doubt." Dad smiled.
"Nope! Well, maybe, like, once-"
"(Y/N)!" Mom exclaimed. I raised my hands in surrender.
"I'm kidding. I never doubted you for a second, Dad." I smiled. He smiled back, then looked back at the letter. When he turned to the side, he noticed the laptop was open.
"Hey, what's this?" He asked.
"Apartments for rent I found on Zillow. I thought Ozzy and I could fly down there tomorrow and check out some neighborhoods." Mom explained.
"And I'm staying with you, because the last thing we went is you getting into trouble." I giggled. Dad sighed.
"I mean, this is all happening so fast." He breathed, moving to sit down on the couch.
"Man. It's the craziest thing. You apply for the job, you get the job!" Mom smiled.
"Well, pending background check." Dad reminded.
"Oh boy. I hope they don't find out about the time you and (N/N) used the neighbor's Wi-Fi." Mom chuckled and sighed.
"Correction, mother. We are still using the neighbor's Wi-Fi." I smirked.
"Well jokes aside, guys, are you sure you're okay with this?" Dad asked, looking anxiously at the two of us.
"Thomas Michael Wachowski. What were you doing the whole time I was in veterinary school?" Mom asked.
"I worked a second job to pay rent, and-"
"A third job for tuition." Mom finished for him.
"And what about the time you took the time off work to go fishing with me?" I asked, grinning at the memory. We didn't really catch anything, but we still had a lot of fun.
"You sacrificed for us, we are happy to sacrifice for you." Mom said. "Babe, are you sure you're okay with this? I mean, there's been a Wachowski protecting this town for 50 years." She reminded Dad.
"Yeah, this is a pretty big adjustment." I pointed out. Dad got up from his seat.
"I'm positive. It's time for me to get out and prove myself. I love Green Hills, but... you know, I want to help people in real danger. I want someone to turn to me in a life-or-death situation and I'll be there for them." Dad said.
"Wow. That was deep." I admired. "But I'm still really proud of you, Dad."
We all got into a group hug.
Yeah, aside from a few other parts, this story is going to be from your perspective. Maybe when I get around to editing it, I'll add more POVs. Anyway...
