Adeline's P.O.V

"Wanna dance babe." A male voice calls from behind me.

I turn around to be faced with a gorgeous boy. He has jet black hair, a slim face, brown eyes, and oh is he fit.

"Uhh. No thanks. I don't dance." I tell him nicely. Although he's very attractive, I'm not interested.

I don't know what it is, but something's off about this boy.

He suddenly grabs my arm and starts pulling me toward the crowd of dancers.

"Hey! What are you doing?!? I said no! Leave me alone." I say glaring at him.

His grip on my arm tightens.

"I don't take no." He says sternly.

"Ow! You're hurting me! Please leave-"

"Leave her alone, Kyle." Harry says cutting me off.

"Aw, come on man, I'm just trying to have some fun." Kyle says while laughing.

"Not with her." Harry says, glaring at Kyle.

"She your girl or something?" Kyle asks.

"No." Me and Harry say in unison.

"I don't see the problem then." Kyle sneers.

"She doesn't want to go with you, just leave her alone."

"Alright, alright. I get it man." He says giving Harry one last look, before he leans toward my ear and whispers loud enough for just me to hear,

"I'll get you soon." Then he disappears into the massive crowd before us.

Harry looks at me with a worried expression.

"Thanks." I sigh.

"Are you okay?" He asks, worry prominent in his voice.

"Uh. Yeah." I say looking at him.

"Sorry about him. That's Kyle. He's an ass. It'd be best if you stay away from him."

"What if I don't want to stay away from him?" I challenge.

"You need to. He's no good." He says.

"You can't tell me who and who not to talk to Harry." I say, annoyed.

Honestly, who does he think he is?

"Adeline. Just stay away from him. Please." He says.

"Whatever." I huff, walking away from him.

"Adeline," Harry says, grabbing my arm.
"He isn't the right person to hang around. I'm just trying to look out for you."

"Why is he bad?"

"He, uh, nothing, don't worry about it. Just please, stay away from him." Harry says, with pleading eyes.

"Okay, okay. Fine." I say, holding my hands up in defense and I start walking in the opposite direction of him.

For the rest of the night, all I do is watch people have fun. I don't like parties and that's a fact. I haven't seen Harry since that thing with Kyle.
I think it's time for me to get home.

I walk to the front door and make my way on to the street.

How do I get home from here?
I could use my GPS. And that's exactly what I do. I type my address in and began my walk back home.

It takes me nearly an hour to get home on foot. By the time I'm home, it's 2 a.m and my head is killing me.
I walk up the stairs and into my room.

I grab an oversized t-shirt that I've had for forever and throw it on. No, I don't wear pants to bed. Most uncomfortable thing in the world.

I make my way to my bathroom and brush my hair and teeth, and I take my makeup off.

I walk over to my comfy bed, and climb in. I decide to do some reading, like I normally do. I grab my glasses off of my nightstand and get my book, A Fractured Light, and began reading.

About the third page into my reading, I hear the doorbell ring.

It's like 3 a.m, why is someone here?

With a groan, I hope out of bed and pull on some shorts. I unlock the door, with hesitation. Who is here? I open the door to be met with a back.

"Can I help you?" I ask.

The figure turns around and I imminently recognize him.

"Harry?" I say confused.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to check on you. You just left. And I know you don't drive, and I just wanted to make sure you got home safely."

"You could've called." I stated.

"I guess I could've." He chuckled.

"Come in." I say, opening the door wide enough for him to get through.

"I'm sorry about earlier with Kyle. I just, I know he's no good. He's done a lot of bad things. I don't want you to get mixed up with him."

"Harry, I get it. Don't worry about it. I wasn't planning on talking to him anytime soon anyway." I say with a soft smile.

"Why did you come all the way over here?" I add.

"I already told you, I wanted to see if you got home safely."

"A normal person would've called." I say matter-of-factly

"Can I stay here?" He says.

"What?" I ask.

"My parents came home early and they're really mad at me right now, I didn't know where else to go, and then I thought of you an-"

"Harry," I cut him off.

"Come on, you can stay here." I say, grabbing his hand, and pulling him up the stairs with me.

We walk into my room and he makes his way to my bed. He kicks of his shoes and lays back on the bed.

"Thanks for letting me stay here."

"Scoot over." I say, pulling back my comforter and climbing in next to him.

Guess I'm sleeping with pants on tonight.
