"I haven't been alone since the day we met. I have felt alone. I know you have felt alone too but we were alone together and together is not alone."

"Shut up, you're just confusing me."

----------

"Lauren and Ethan sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G."

"People are supposed to sing that when we kiss. You aren't supposed to sing it." Lauren exclaims, her legs dangling below her.

"Yeah, but we're sat in a tree and I wanna kiss you." Ethan explains, gripping onto the branch he is perched on.

They had just managed to scramble up there and they were both really hot and bothered now.

"Well, you're sweaty so I don't wanna kiss you." She lifts her hands off the scratchy bark of the branch before brushing them clean on her jeans.

It was way too warm out for her liking thought the leaves of the tree did create enough shade to make it just bearable. She was more than excited for the ice cream man to come and she was hoping it was any second because she would have to run across the field to get to it. Exercise.

That was about as far as her athletic ability went though.

Ethan exaggeratedly puckers his lips and leans in.

Lauren can see how wet and disgusting his lips are and he reeks of fresh sweat. It's honestly her idea of hell.

She begins to lean away whilst also scooting over on the branch.

Ethan stops halfway and pouts.

"You're no fun." He claims, running a hand through his hair and lifting his shirt to wipe his forehead.

Lauren kind of feels sorry for him but on the other hand, he needs a shower and she hates her own sweat, never mind someone else's.

"You're just as sweaty as me." He grumbles, leaning back against the tree trunk and swinging a leg over the branch so there is one either side. He's glad he got the spot where all the branches meet the trunk and form a little hovel for someone to sit in because where Lauren sits right now looks really uncomfortable.

"And I don't want to get sweatier."

"Because you get all hot when I kiss you?"

"Because you're practically dripping."

Ethan frowns, he's not that bad but as if Lauren knew what he was thinking she leans over and pecks his cheek.

"Ew. You're salty."

Ethan can't help but laugh at the face Lauren pulls. All her features are scrunched up except her mouth is pulled into a straight line.

She honestly looks so adorable and Ethan just wants to squeeze her like a teddy bear.

-----------------

"That's much better." Lauren exclaims, walking into Ethan's bedroom in just a towel.

Ethan is laying on his bed, with damp hair and a change of clothes, playing on his phone.

"That towel suits you." Ethan smirks, laughing and failing at a wink as Lauren flops onto the end of the bed.

Her head is in line with Ethan's shins as she lifts a leg up so it's adjacent with her body and the towel rides down her leg a little.

"Shaved my legs too."

"Ethan?" Both of their heads immediately turn to the door, Lauren's leg falling down, to see Ethan's mum there, covering her eyes.

Ethan does nothing but laugh as Lauren sits up, still not completely at ease with her boyfriend's family.

"I was just wondering if you two wanted some dinner?" She asks, peeking from between her fingers before cautiously removing her hand from her fae and smiling awkwardly at Lauren, who returns it.

"We were gonna go Nandos." Ethan responds, smiling kindly, lovingly, at his mum. A person he has utmost respect for and adores more than anyone.

"Okay, have fun." She smiles and leaves.

A comfortable silence settles over the cluttered room that could, quite possibly, have some creature, or even a person, living in it against Ethan's knowledge. He didn't care though, a tidy room made him feel unbelievably uncomfortable and made the room feel less home like and more hotel like.

"I like your mum." Lauren declares, nodding her head in assurance with pursed lips and a hand clutches tightly across her chest, assuring that the towel does not fall. And incident like that would be embarrassing, more so by the fact that Ethan would enjoy every second of it like the creepy, little perv he is.

She turns to look at Ethan, who is just staring at her with a loose smile and glazed eyes.

"Yeah, me too."

Confusion fills Lauren as she tries to figure out the different possible meanings behind his obscure response.

"You like my mum or your mum?"

"My mum, you won't let me meet your mum."

Lauren shakes her head with a fond smile and scrunched up eyes as she tries to hold back her laughter.

Ethan sits up, grabbing her arms and dragging her up the bed and wrapping his arms around her, trapping her against him. She can't hold back her laughs anymore and they come out in long, un-lady like barks as Ethan runs his hands up and down her sides, tickling every sensitive spot he knows of.

He dives straight for the back of her knees, knowing that's her most ticklish spot, but her reflexes get the better of him as her legs flinch backwards and straight into his thigh.

"Owwwwwwww." He whines, still refusing to let go of her, holding her close creating up a little metaphor in his head that represents to him, and hopefully Lauren, that he doesn't want to let her go.

"Let me go!" She screams, wiggling frantically and pulling at Ethan's interlocked hands.

"Never."

And he means it.

Metaphorically, of course.
