It started with a fib

Unexpected answer

Kokichi sighs, dropping his bag next to his desk and slumping into his chair.  He puts his head down on his desk hearing the bell ring for the first period.

"Hey dude you okay?" Kokichi hears Rantaros voice say

"Uhhgg yeah..." Kokichi responds groggily

"Boys stop with your side conversations!" The teacher shouts from the front of the room.  A couple of students snicker.

~Time skip~

Kokichi puts his hand over his mouth stifling a yawn as he exits the classroom.  Rantaro follows close behind staring for a second before speaking.

"Ok seriously did you get any sleep last night, you basically slept through the whole lecture."

"It's not my fault the new neighbors were so loud last night." Kokichi responds, turning left before stopping at his locker.

Kokichi puts the code into his locker and pulls the books out of his bag before sticking them into the locker.  Rantaro leans on the lockers next to him, staring at Kokichi putting his books away.

"Well if you're not too tired me and a couple of friends are gonna go to Wackdonalds as soon as seventh period ends, you wanna tag along?" Rantaro says as Kokichi closes his locker.

"Sure that might be fun." Kokichi responds bluntly

Second period bell rings signaling the students to get to their classes.  Kokichi gives Rantaro a small wave and a see you later before scurrying off to his next class.  Rantaro smirks watching Kokichis back disappear in the crowd of students.

~Time skip~

Rantaro is leaning against the doorframe of the front doors as Kokichi runs up to him. Rantaro looks up as Kokichi puts his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath after running all the way across campus.

"Pffft dude you actually ran all the way here?" Rantaro snickers

"Well you said you were going as soon as seventh period finished.." Kokichi responds standing up straight

"Also where are your other friends, weren't we going with them?" Kokichi asks looking around puzzled

"Yeah they already left and said to catch up with them once you showed up." Rantaro says exiting the building followed by Kokichi

"Oh well I'm sorry I held you up..." Kokichi says looking down

"No worries, we can just go catch up with them." Rantaro says pulling out his phone to text the group and tell them Kokichi showed up

~After a short walk~

Rantaro pushes the door of Wackdonalds open, holding it for Kokichi; they both look around before spotting their friends seated at a booth.  Kokichi takes a seat next to Angie as the chatter starts.  Kokichis head bobs as begins to doze off.

"What about you Kokichi?" says a voice waking Kokichi forms his daze

"Huh, what??" Kokichi responds completely out of it

"Oh I just asked if you like someone." Himiko says, all eyes at the table turn to Kokichi

"Kokichi, you have a crush?" Angie turns to look at him

"I bet it's someone cute~" Rantaro says staring at Kokichi

"What no I don't-" Kokichi stutters

"No way Kokichi are you dating someone-?" Tenko blurts out

"HUH, when did I ever-?" Kokichi continues to stutter

"Oh my Kokichi, how scandalous!" Tsumugi says snickers

"Yeah sure, fine." Kokichi gives in to their game

"Who is it?" Angie leans closer to Kokichi awaiting an answer

"Gonta wants to know who it is." Gonta says

"Is it someone we know?" Himiko asks interested who the person might be

Kokichis completely flustered at this point and thinks of a random classmate blurting their name.

"It's Shuichi!" He says not even processing the name he had picked

The table stares at him in shock

"HIM?!" Tenko shouts

Tsumugi chuckles and takes a sip of her drink.  Angie is just flabbergasted, and Himiko really just wanted to know who it was as well as Gonta.  Rantaro smirks

"Oh is that so..." Rantaro says taking a bite of his food

Welp that wraps up chapter one.  Honestly, for my very first fanfic I'm excited to see where I can take this story.  If you made it this far thanks and I hope to see you in the next chapter.
