Birth, life, and death, Circle of life. Isn't it true that everything happens for a reason?

Fuck that!

Not once has anyone ever come to warn me about how screwed up life can be, it's like 1 minute you could be having the time of your life and the next you're lying on the floor questioning your existence. New year, new me, no, I have the same old boring life, with the same old boring me just in a different city.

It all started back in Brisbane, my home, or what used to be. My birthday hadn't long gone, a letter had arrived in the mail addressed to me, weird, I hardly ever get mail. I tore it open expecting to find a late birthday gift or something but no it was an acceptance letter for one of the most prestigious high schools in Australia.

Now any normal person would be over the moon, right? And I couldn't blame them, I mean who wouldn't want to be accepted into the school of their dreams, a school only very select few could attend, but instead I stood there scratching my head, I mean it had the right name on it but there had got to be some sort of mistake right because

1. my grades were far from great

and 2. I don't remember ever applying for that school, at least I don't think I did.

But before I could go into any more depth about it my dad grabbed it from out of my hands and started to read,  I noticed his eyes were getting a little brighter with every word he read. He finished the letter, silence filled the room like a heavy blanket and then one of the loudest shrieks I will ever hear. He kept telling me how proud he was of me and how I didn't turn into a total disappointment after all, kinda harsh but for my own sake I didn't tell him the truth, then before I knew it we had moved to this crappy city, which for some stupid reason they call the "Emerald city" aka Sydney,  Australia.

My dad is an accountant, so basically he does other peoples taxes because they are too lazy to do it for themselves. And my mum? Well she is a failed actress, who now works as a fitness coach and when she's not working she's either tending to my fathers every need or lecturing me about the importance of a healthy balance and self control.

School doesn't start until next week so I guess this gives me enough time to warm up to this stupid city. I walk out to my backyard, it's small and sun-drenched. I feel some sort of force on my chest Then BOOF!! I'm on the ground, I look up and see Oscar. He's the dog I begged my parents to get me, since they wouldn't give me siblings. he is a Border Collie with long black and white hair and a star shaped birthmark behind his right ear.

"Oscar you dumb dog" I say as I pick my self up and brush my clothes off with my hands. I pick up a tennis ball that was lying on the ground and throw it,

"fetch boy" I yell, he sits there looking at me as if I'm stupid,

"Oscar go get it" I insist pointing to it. Still nothing, I sigh and go pick up the ball from off the ground. It's dirty and feels somewhat strange in my palm, I toss the ball up in the air seeing how many times I can clap before it comes back down into my hands.

 "1....2....3....4....5....".
