Clementine woke up coughing out water, her lungs burned for a moment as she dumped a bunch of water onto the sand beneath her feet. She coughed a few more times before reaching up with her hand and wiping off her mouth. Clementine slowly stood to her feet and looked around—noticing she was on a beach head of some sort. Clementine walked forward and called out when she didn't find Carley or Gabriel around.
"Hello, Christa! Gabriel! Carley!" Nothing answered her as she walked along the beach. Clementine spotted a canoe in the distance and walked toward it. The canoe was buried beneath but that's not what she was looking at, but rather she was staring at the a body next to it. Clementine looked at the body next to the submerged piece of wood but didn't recognize it—thankfully. It didn't look like Carley or Gabriel so she continued on.
There was a dock not far from the water, about 20 feet, so Clementine walked toward it and jumped. Clementine grabbed the rim of the dock and pulled herself up, the bitter cold doing nothing to calm her nerves as she shivered lightly. Clementine walked up onto some dirt and grass as she trie stood look for any signs of her companions, but her eyes found nothing. The only thing that Clementine found was a street sign that was Impaled through a walkers skull.
Clementine walked further into the woods, passing a stick grave that made her Think of Lee. They hadn't not any time to dig a grave for Lee when he had died and just left him in that pawn shop, cold and alone. Gabriel wanted to Bury Lee but he just couldn't. They didn't have any time. Clementine lowered her head as the memory's of Lee flashed in her head again. Ever since his death she's had nightmares of Gabriel and Carley dying, some of them had Christa and Omid dead as well.
Clementine walked slowly through the woods, trying not to get spooked at every sound at every sound that came from the woods. Clem jumped a few times at the occasional tree movement but most of the time she just kept walking, knowing that even the smallest stop could be the end of her.
She walked for a little bit longer, passing a sign that showed a multitude of creatures and saying, "beware of your surroundings." Clementine shook her head and continued forward, already sick of being alone. She had walked even further toward somewhere. She had no idea where she was going but she was trying to find some some semblance of human interaction or existence for that matter.
Finally though after a few minutes of walking Clementine found what looked like a Van and a tent up ahead. The girl could see movement in the trees but couldn't see how many people there exactly was. Though as she looked closer she saw there were two people at least...though they didn't look unfamiliar. As Clementine came closer to the camp sight she reconsigned the two figures just up ahead.
"Gabriel, Carley!"
Gabriel pov.
"Where do you think she is?" Carley asked as she looked at the Van just to our left. I was looking through my bag and hummed once I found what I was looking for. I pulled out a small bag of dog food that I had taken from one of the stores that we had been to. I had it as a last resort just in case Clem or Carley were starving but right now someone else needed it.
"Could be anywhere. I'm just hoping she didn't...you know." Carley nodded and closed her eyes, sighing deeply as she understood what I meant.
I pulled the canned food out of my bag and looked at the sitting dog to my left. "What's up buddy, you want food?" I asked the dog as it looked a little thin. Carley had found the dog a little while ago while we were searching for Clem. I thought he'd attack us but he didn't he was a pretty dog, bright golden fur and all. If anything he was just pretty thin.
The dog barked and I smiled. "Atta boy." I made my pointing finger a singular blade and sliced off the top of the can. I pulled out some tin foil and poured the canned food onto the foil. The dog immediately started to lap it up. I smiled and tossed the can as I stood up, leaving my bag on the ground to sit next to Carley. "How you holding up?" I asked as I wrapped my arm around her. Carley leaned against my shoulder and smiled.
