Gabriel's pov.

After my Promise to Eve the wind picked up...fast.

My eyes glanced up at the Wind turbine spinning much faster. The noise was much louder, which would attract Walkers. My eyes narrowed. I had to turn it off.

I walked forward, my feet taking me over toward the giant wind turbine as it started to spin faster in the dead of the night. Eve said we had less than an hour before Carver arrived, so I had to speak with Carley and Clem soon. They had to know about my promise to Eve, otherwise they will make this more complicated than it had to be. That could compromise their safety, and their safety was most important to me.

I walked past the Cabin which was lit up with lights that burned brightly in the night, lights that were about to go out. I didn't want to do this but to make sure my new Family made it out safely I have might have to do some things I won't be proud of, but in the end will be worth it.

I stepped up to the control panel for the wind turbine and threw open the door, my eyes glancing inside to see what each component did. I've never worked with turbines before, but it doesn't matter, All machines work the same.

The difference was which key turned off the machine.

I looked down and saw a key hole in the bottom left of the console. I lifted my left arm and put my thumb on the key hole, my poly alloy making the shape of the key and fitting perfectly. I twisted my hand right and pushed it, turning off the giant turbine. The giant rotors gave one last few pushes before whine signified the end of electric pulses.

I looked up at the blades as they slowed down and came to a halt, locking into place and moving no more. This would stop them from becoming to loud when the wind picked up, and attracting walkers with the noise. Sure the Cabin wouldn't have any power but the cost was worth it, saving a transformer and allowing them to use it another day.

I shut the console door and turned around, the Cabin still having some residual electricity left. It wouldn't last to much longer now. But it gave me enough time to get back inside before the weather picked up.

I rolled my neck and walked back toward the cabin, my mind set on one thing and one thing only.

I had to protect them.

Carley and Clem were my priority right now, maybe even Kenny, but everyone else didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Nice people surely but I'd kill them a hundred times to keep Carley and Clementine safe.

Carver was a danger that would soon arrive and I can't take a chance with pissing him off. Sure he might not be much of a threat but Eve was, and if I fucked yo now he'd sick her on my family and I won't allow that. if eve's words were true than all I have to do is play nice when Carver shows up again and we can go free. Carver wants Rebecca, and he'll likley take the rest with him back to wherever the fuck they came from. But if they could leave the rest of us alone I would be ok with that. I could move on from that.

But how to make everyone comply? Good fucking question.

I walked back into the cabin through the front door and the power seemed to die as the door closed behind me. I heard footsteps from the top of the stairs and saw Matthew with Kenny meeting my gaze.

"The fuck you turn off the windmill for?" Kenny asked. His gaze flickered from me to the outside where the the turbine was.
Quickly I came up with a lie.
