The painful shrill of my alarm work me up, jolting me from my sleep as I jump off the sofa where I spent the night last night. My body ached as the sofa was no where near as comfortable as my bed, as I headed towards my bedroom to pull my uniform on for work. Mia was still fast asleep in her bedroom, her snores echoing around the empty house, in 8 months I have a screaming infant in our house. I push the thoughts out of my head before pulling on my nurse uniform and heading downstairs to grab some food before work.
I need to make a doctors appointment to confirm how far along I am, and to ensure that health of my baby. Although It was a huge shock to me to find out that I am pregnant, I am not as worried as I was yesterday, I know that I will be a great mother and care for my baby well. My main concern was notifying Giovanni so that he can decide weather or not he wants to be in his child's life. That is if I can track him down.
"You feeling better today." Nurse Mary asks as she stares towards me in the staff room, bring her coffee to her lips. She knows something is up, over the past 2 years that I have worked here I have never had a sick day, never been sick or fainted. She knows that it is not like me, and she undoubtable knows that I am pregnant, women just have a sense for it, especially since she has had 3 of her own children.
"Yeah I'm not really sure what set my stomach off to be honest, was probably to much caffeine." I say as she continues to stare at me before offering me a warm smile, yeah she defiantly knows. I rush to make myself a cup of tea before heading to the ward to start my rounds. A new patient has been admitted to our ward, a young women with bruises across her body and a broken arm, she has supposedly had a fall, however the marks across her body indicate something else. Mary had notified me that other nurses had asks if she was in a potentially abusive relationship however she had argued that she was not. It sadden me because deep down she wanted the help, but was just to frightened to get it, one day she will break the cycle and we will be here with open arms.
"Morning Amy! I am nurse Valarie, however your are welcome to call me V! How are you today?" I ask, as I start filling out the clipboard and checking her vitals, she takes a sip of water from the side before responding.
"I'm fine, just tired and my arm is really painful." She says looking towards me, I place the clipboard back into the slot before turning to face her.
"I can imagine, doctor has prescribed you more medication that we will give you after breakfast that should ease the pain. And then it will only be a few more days before you can leave here!" I say, which causes her to frown and the sparkle in her eye to disappear, indicating again to me that she does not want to go home, here was safe for her.
"Thank you!" She says before grabbing her phone and typing a message to whom ever. I take this as my que to leave and head towards the next patient, however my phone begins ringing, normally I would ignore it as my patients are more important however something possesses me to check it. A unknown number, maybe it is Giovanni?
"Hello V speaking!" I say as I hold my breathing praying it is him.
"Morning V! I heard that you have been harassing people trying to find me!" He mumbles in his deep husky voice, he has very clearly just woken up and his morning voice is defiantly a turn on.
"I wouldn't say harassing, just asking around! Anyways I don't suppose we could meet up later tonight?" I blush grateful that he can't see me at this current moment.
"Can't get another of me!" He chuckles through the phone as I roll my eyes. He's going to be very surprised when he finds out the real reason. "I will meet you at the bar that you where at yesterday at 5."
