"Hello, darling." The handsome vampire purred, his red eyes glinting. "I was unaware that we were starting the 'run-away' game so early."
Your brows raised in surprise and your mouth fell open. You were silent as you tried to find the words to respond, before what he had said finally hit you. "W-what do you mean, 'run-away' game?"
The vampire didn't respond to you, but instead smirked and turned to Alice. He nodded to her, and murmured something in a language that you didn't quite recognize.
She obviously knew it however, because she responded instantly. They spoke a few more sentences to each other while you stood awkwardly to the side, before Alice finally turned back to you.
She reached for her notepad and scribbled out a message before turning it to you.
I have an important matter to attend to. I will see you later.
"O-oh." You replied, nodding. "Alright then. I'll see you back at the apartment." You sighed internally as Alice bowed once again to the other vampire, before motioning a quick farewell to you.
You watched her scurry down the street, her slender frame growing smaller and smaller until it finally rounded a corner and disappeared entirely. The short interaction left you extremely confused.
You understood the basics of vampire hierarchy. The older a vampire was, the more respect he or she earned. The older a vampire was, the more likely it was for a younger vampire to fear them.
Vampires have distinct smells, and the older they are, the more refined their "scent" is. This was something that you had learned ages ago, and was common knowledge even among humans.
This meant that the vampire in front of you was old enough to warrant the kind of respect that Alice had given him. Bowing, an alarmed expression...he was important no doubt. Not only that, but they both spoke a language that was completely unfamiliar to you.
Just how old were they? And, what was their relationship? How did they know each other? Alice had mentioned something to you about it the day that you had come home from spending the night with him...
You turned back to the vampire, intent on voicing your curiosity, but the words got caught in your throat when you found that he had moved much closer to you.
He was inches away from you, his ruby eyes staring down into your own. You flinched, but held your ground. He tilted his head and smiled, though it didn't seem as genuine as he might have hoped.
"I'm glad I ran into you today." He murmured, bringing his hand up to your cheek. The feel of his cool skin sent a jolt down your spine, and you shivered. His small smile turned into a smirk, but was gone before you could comment on the change.
He let his hand fall back to his side as he took a step backwards. "I was hoping that we could sit and chat. Do you have time?" He asked, his brow raised.
"Well," You mumbled, hesitating. Now that you were no longer drunk or horny, your confidence was gone and you were feeling anxious around the handsome man. He still looked just as devastatingly beautiful as he did a week ago, and it was even more apparent now that you were sober.
"I have to get to class soon, I really don't want to be late." You finished, frowning up at him. "I'm truly sorry, but my professor can be petty sometimes so...I'd like to avoid any extra work."
The vampire hummed, his brows furrowing slightly. "Alright. Then please allow me to walk you to campus instead." He said. It was more so an order than a suggestion, and you stiffly agreed.
