"Oh, (Y/N). You're already in here?"

Surprised by the voice but not at all scared, the hacker looked over his shoulder boredly as he stood in the center of the Ultimate Affluent Progeny's cottage, his tired eyes locking onto Hajime's. Not very far behind him, Nagito was holding his chin in thought.

"He must've asked Monokuma for permission to go into Byakuya's cottage," he mused. "I just can't believe that Byakuya would leave his door unlocked at all."

"You're right," Hajime cast him a suspicious glance. "What are you doing in here, (Y/N)?"

(Y/N) scoffed at the question. "I'm investigating, what else would I be doing?" he sneered.

It had only been about ten minutes since disaster struck in the old building. The smell of blood seemed to linger around everyone when the memory of their self-proclaimed leader's corpse flashed through their minds, cold and unmoving. Upon seeing it, Monokuma had been quick to enter the room with a giddy grin and a message; a body had been discovered.

The sound of ringing bells alerted everyone of what they must do next. Investigate Byakuya's death, or die trying to avoid the mystery. The students had all split up, suspicious and untrusting of others. However, in Hajime's case, some people decided to team up.

"Ah. Right..." Feeling embarrassed, the brunette coughed awkwardly. Not knowing what to do to clear the tense atmosphere, Hajime scratched the back of his head. Nagito stood next to him with an empty smile, eyes staring back into the other's (e/c) eyes intensely.

"We were just about to investigate here as well," the luckster said. "Do you mind if we have the space to ourselves?"

"Knock yourselves out," (Y/N) shrugged. Without another word he stalked out of the cottage, making sure to barge into Nagito's shoulder on his way out, causing the white-haired student to wince in pain.

"He's sure got an arm on him," Nagito rubbed his arm to soothe the pain. "Anyways, we should start looking."

"Ah, right."

The duo scoured around the room, digging through drawers and flipping pillows to create a messy array of what they considered to be an attempt at an investigation. With every second that ticked by, Hajime's frustrations only continued to grow. The same could be said for Nagito, as he searched through every nook and cranny that could possibly be found.

"Is this even worth it?" The brown haired boy grumbled, running a hand through his hair. "We've been looking for ages and there's nothing in here. We're just wasting our time."

"I suppose you're right," Nagito sighed, letting his shoulders droop as a pathetic smile crept on his face. "We should probably go look somewhere else. It doesn't seem like Byakuya's cottage has anything. And here I thought I had a golden idea..."

His investigation partner only rolled his eyes at the luckster's damped mood. He scanned the room again quickly, an unsuccessful attempt to let something of interest catch his eye. There was nothing. "Let's get going then."

Hajime left the room first, leaving Nagito standing by himself, smiling. Once his classmate was out of sight, he smile fell into an irritated glare.

He quickly rushed over to the draws at Byakuya's desk, throwing all of the contents onto the floor carelessly. He had checked everything in the cottage once, twice, three times. But he couldn't find what he was looking for.

He knew it should be there, and he knew there was no way someone as protective as Byakuya would ever let anyone find out about it.

So where the hell was the note he sent out?
