"Let's go public," she suggested out of the blue.  My eyes widened.  "Let me claim you publicly."

I stiffened underneath her.  I knew she could feel it since she was laying on my chest, but I couldn't help it.  I smoothed my hand through her hair in an attempt to calm myself.  The thought of Emily claiming me publicly thrilled me to no end, but I didn't know if we were ready for that.  The realities of our jobs and my place in the public eye complicated everything.  We couldn't just be a normal couple.  We would never be a normal couple.

I knew just how cruel the press could be.  I wasn't sure I was ready for them to pry into every nook and cranny of our private life.  "Em-" I started, "It's going so well now.  We'll be crucified in the press."

"I don't care about that."

Okay, new tactic.  "What about your job?  Do you really think Aaron is going to let you keep your job if we're public?"  This was the bigger concern to me.  We could deal with the harsh words of the press.  If my approval ratings fell for this, we could boost them another way.  But I couldn't ask her to quit her job just to date me.

"Please think about this," she pleaded.  "It's important to me.  You're important to me.  I just want to be able to claim you."  My heart melted at her words.  "I want to go with you to Rossi's party as your date; I want a do-over from last year."

"Em," my breath leaving me in a sharp exhale.  She was so sweet it made me ache.  I slipped out from underneath her so we could lay face to face.  I intertwined our legs together and cupped her face.  "This is going to make our lives so much harder..." I warned.

Her mouth slowly curled into a smile - my favorite smile.  The one that showed off all her teeth and lit my core on fire.  "Is that a yes?" she asked, hope permeating her voice.

I smiled back at her.  I couldn't help it.  "That's a yes," I said, "BUT we have to talk to Aaron about it."

"I already know what Hotch is going to say," she gloated.  I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Did you already talk to him about this?"

She had the decency to look sheepish.  "I might have..." she trailed off, looking away.

"Emily Prentiss!"  Before I could say anything else, her fingers attached to my sides, tickling me mercilessly.  "Ahh! Emily!" I screeched.  "Stop!"  I gasped.  She rolled on top of me to keep me from wiggling away.  Instead of continuing her tickling - thank god - she barraged my face with kisses.  Her lips raining down on every inch of my skin.  I giggled between her kisses, wrapping my arms and legs around her, giving her a koala hug.  I rolled us to the side, capturing her lips in a searing kiss to continue rekindling our love.

The next day I called a meeting with Aaron, Derek, Emily, and JJ.  "Thank you all for coming on such short notice," I started.  "I wanted to discuss Emily and I's relationship."  She grabbed my hand under the table for support.  I don't know why I was so nervous; everyone in this room already knew about us.  "We'd like to attend Rossi's birthday party together."

"If she comes as your date, obviously you'll be outed.  They'll blame the kidnapping on her.  The media will have a field day," Aaron pointed out.

"I can handle that.  I can spin this pretty easily."  Butterflies arose in my stomach.  Was this possible?

"Can she retain her job?" I asked.  "How can we make that work?  I do NOT want her losing her job because of me."

"I don't know if I can hold the press back enough to let her continue to be in the field.  How would that look?" JJ asked.
