" Aren't you going to Invite me in?" Sophie questioned. Did i want this girl claiming to be my daughter in my house? you cant trust a girl (wearing not the best clothes i might add) showing up to a rich guys apartment claiming to have blood relations to you...can you...would you? "Dad...Dad...hello...dad?" i then realized she was talking to me...her father. me a dad? Who knew?

"Um yes, come in." i stuttered. When she was seated on the couch i offered her something to drink which she declined, i grabbed a beer for myself and sat down facing Sophie.

"So, um, so dad? Why'd you leave us...'cause you know her boyfriend, Dan, beats her and me!"she stuttered then she then broke out into tears.I could tell this was a sensitive subject, I didn't know what to say, i mean i had only known Hanna for a few hours until till we were back at her hotel room and then she screamed at me to "Get out!" 9 years ago! Scared and confused on my response, i contemplated on how to respond to my new 9 year old's question question in an appropriate format.

"Well, um your mom and I, we were very young, and for one night we were together and she made me leave. Let's just leave it at that. I answered. Trying to slightly change the subject, i turned the TV to a childeren's show i thought she would be familiar with, Hannah Montana, Sophie didn't know what the show was. In fact, she told me that Dan didn't let her watch TV at all. Could my new little girl have grown up so miserable because i didn't argue with Hanna to stay that December night? I should have tried to work things out! "Sophie, do you know your mommy's phone number?" i asked.

"Of course!" She replied once again in feisty tone. Once told and i had dialed it, i held it to my ear and listened to it ring and ring over and over again for what seemed like an eternity mostly because i was holding my breath in fear of hearing Hanna's voice for the first time in 9 years.

"Hello?" a sweet little voice finally answered.

"Hello, Hanna? This is Tyler, um, Tyler Williams, i don't know if you remem-" I was cut off.

"i remember you, Tyler, how did you get my number?" She questioned.

"My daughter gave it to me!" I replied condescendingly.

"Sophie, she...she's there?

"Yes, and i'd like her to stay." i hung up the phone.
