Cold Case 4.1 (My version)

The Mall

Jessie-------------

I sat with Dayton at lunch and pretty soon Cam and Neil joined us.

Sitting across from me Neil gave a small smile "Jay I heard that new Green Day album comes out next week."

I nodded "Sounds good" I moved my fork around the plastic tray, moving the soggy sliced carrots around.

Cam chuckled "Eww you bought the crime scene lunch"

I cracked a smile pointing my plastic fork at him "Better then your gross ass pastrami and cheese."

Cam rolled his eyes and I froze. Zach stood behind him and as he passed sent me a wink. Dayton noticed quickly putting his hand on my waist "Jess it's okay I'm right here."

I nodded " He's just tryin to scare me"

Cam smirked "Hey wanna go by the mall this afternoon?"

Dayton shook his head "I can't I gotta pick up some stuff for my dad."

I sighed resting my head on his shoulder " Fine then you gotta watch horror movies with me and the boys tonight."

Neal groaned "No way not with him"

I sighed "Can you guys do this just for me?"

Can nodded hitting Neal on the shoulder "Come on man."

Neal turned to me "Only if you let me pick the movie and no gross couple shit."

I rolled my eyes "Fine plus I'll go to the mall later with you guys."

Walking into Cameron's house I saw his mother about to leave for work.

"Hi Mrs.C" I smiled

She looked up from her bag "Hello Jessie, Cameron is on the computer again playing his games. I'm sure he even left the front door unlocked as well, you can go ahead in but please lock the door behind you."

I nodded "Will do, we're supposed to head to the mall later. "

She nodded " Okay well you guys have fun okay?"

I walked past her after saying goodbye and sure enough the front door was unlocked as she said. I turned locking it behind me and went to Cam's room.

"What's up?" I asked plopping on his messy bed

He turned from his game looking at me "About to crush these fools."

I nodded "Neal working?"

He sighed "Yeah stupid bum got called in last minute, come on let's go I'll finish these losers later."

He exited off the computer and went to help me up, as I stood up I put my arm around his shoulder. He smirked but lightly shoved me as we headed out the door again.

Walking down the escalator we saw Neal wiping down the cafeteria tables, I ran behind him and covered his eyes.

"Hmm small bony fingers....I wonder who it could be." Neal said and I smacked his arm as he turned around smirking at me

"I do not have bony fingers!" I defended myself

He laughed "I'm kidding Jess"

Cam sat down on the now clean table "So how's your shitty job"

Neal rolled his eyes "Better then yours burger boy."

I smirked "Okay you two battle this out, I'm gonna go to the video store."

I turned walking across the food court to the video store and saw Danny stocking some new cameras. I walked over "Hey"

Danny looked up almost scared but seeing me he smiled lightly "Jessie"

I picked up one of the small recorders "Man these are expensive, I might ask for one for Christmas or something."

Danny shook his head "if your looking don't go with that one, it's had quite a few returns but try this one it's even got a flip screen to show what your recording."

He picked up a medium sized video camera and I held it in my hand, I played around with it a bit before I set it down.

"So how are things?" I asked

Danny looked behind me and seemed to shrink back and I turned around "Dayton!"

I hugged him and he smiled "Hey" looking past me he gave a small nod "Danny"

Danny seemed surprised but looked to me "I gotta head back to work I'll see you later."

Dayton turned to me "Did I say something wrong?"

I shook my head "Your friends with Zach, he teases Danny a lot. I thought you had to help your dad with some stuff?"

He shrugged "I got out of it, hey come with me."

I sighed but he dragged me along with him, he started walking toward the small photo booth and I raised an eyebrow "Please tell me we are not doing that ."

He pulled me inside and put in a few dollars "We're doing this thing"

We did a classic smile and as the next picture was counting down, I looked over at him to see him already staring at me before the camera flashed. We both smiled at each other and he leaning in and I met him halfway softly pressing our lips together. When I opened my eyes I saw a flash, I looked at the camera and made a silly face. As we waited for the picture, Dayton smiled "You know I've never actually used one of these things?"

I chuckled "Me, Cam, and Neal crammed into one. I think I still have the pictures in my room somewhere."

There was a light thud and I reached down picking up the photo strip, the first picture was normal a couple enjoying their time, the second you could see the care for one another before the next which was the kiss, I smirked as I saw the last photo of Dayton and I, I had made a funny face my tongue sticking out and my eyes crossed but Dayton was smiling as he looked at me. I looked up and kissed his cheek "We had better go find the boys"

Dayton nodded "Okay"
