"Hey,Ruby listen to me," I say. "Ruby,stop playing with the lickerish!"

She looks at me,a little bit shocked,and I sigh.

"I'm.. I'm sorry for yelling,but I gotta tell you something" I say and she quirks a brow, throwing the lickerish in her mouth.

"What?" She turns to face me.

"I got accepted"

She blinks at me and then smiles.

"Where's the college?"

"Emerald City"

"Congratulations,Jason. That's so cool"

"Yeah,I know right," I smile.

"When are you required to resume?" She asks quietly.

"Next month"

"Wow," she sighs. "I don't even know what college I want to get into"

"What do you have passion for?"

"Nothing"

"Oh come on, don't say nothing. You've gotta like doing something"

"Well," she bites on her lower lip as she thinks. "I love fixing my motorcycle. And I've helped Ken with his car a couple of times"

"You've also helped me, remember?"

"Oh,yeah" she replies.

"So maybe you have passion for Mechanical engineering" I suggest and she shrugs.

"Whatever," she sighs and dusts her boots. "I'm taking a gap year to work. There's no way I'm getting into college with the funds I have"

"You sure you don't need my help?" I ask

"Nope," she says popping the 'p' . I'll gather funds, don't worry. My aunt might even help"

"So should I help you look for colleges online?"

"Yeah,you could do that. So I know what college I'm gonna write to when I have enough money" she says and I nod.

"Do you wanna grab some ice cream?" I ask

"Yeah,sure. We could do that" she says and gets up from the trunk of my car"

"You won't miss me?"

She shrugs and runs her hand through her hair

"I would, but I won't admit that to you"

"But you just did" I reply

She shrugs as we get in my car.

I start the car,and begin to drive.

An hour later, I've spent so much money on ice cream.

I bought so much that I'm surprised how Ruby and I finished them all.

We order some waffles also,and I know I'm rating this place five stars online.

When we're done,Ruby says she has something to do around,so I dropped her at a workshop.

She said her motorcycle was there,so I dropped her off.

When I get home,I just pour myself some sparkling grape juice.

Dad walks in and smiles.

"Heard about your admission,son," he smiles at me. "Congratulations!"

"Thank you dad" I say

"Wow," he looks across the room with a pair of glossy eyes.  "I can't believe it,I remember how tiny you looked years ago,and now, you're all muscly and handsome and smart!"

I chuckle at him.

"I'm so proud of you" he whispers and hugs me again.

"Is this how you reacted when Toby also got his admission?"

"Yeah," he sniffles. "Kinda" he adds and I let out a boisterous laugh.

The next morning,I wake up to mom's loud cheering from downstairs.

I need to look handsome for prom tonight.

It feels so good to be done with examinations,ahhh. That feeling.

I know I aced my exams.

Thank goodness Ruby and I had some celebratory ice cream after our last paper.

Because she's not coming tonight.

I walk downstairs,and mom is pouring she and dad some champagne.

"He's here!! My baby is here! Yay! Who's excited for prom?! I know you are!!" Mom yells and I have to cover my ears from how loud her voice is.

"We're s proud of you,son" Dad says and pats my back.

"You're attending right?" Mom asks after noticing my silence.

"Yeah,I am. But Ruby's not going" I say

"Awww,baby. Maybe she's not a fan of prom nights. That doesn't stop you from seeing here. She's obviously attending the graduation ceremony on Friday" mom says.

"Yeah,I guess"

"Now, don't be moody because of that! Get ready for tonight!!," She says and runs her hand through my hair,then to my little facial hair.

"Ugh,you need a haircut"

Seriously?

Thanks for reading guyss.. it's very stressful writing this because I'm also writing other stories at the same time,and since Ruby has already revealed what happened in her past,it makes the story kinda boring now.

Buuut,I gat y'all covered.

We have maybe four chapters left🤷
