The silence was broken by a little noise coming from the bed. Araine turned to face Rune. Perhaps he didn't get much sleep down there, she figured to herself."Don't even bother to ask how I slept because I didn't." Rune chuckled as he spoke. Grinning, Araine stood up. Usually, she starts her mornings with breakfast. Vade takes her food to her room at nine in the morning."It's past 9.." Curious, Araine opened the door and glanced at the clock. There was not a trace of Vade's whereabouts. Despite the possibility that she was still asleep, Araine hurried to her sister's room.As she approached Vade's room, the floor began to grumble beneath her feet.

BAM!

The door blew apart. Vade's door broke into little fragments. Burnt wood bits and dust covered the space. It was a massive blast. Araine was shocked. She just stood there, gazing into the large, pitch-black space."Vade?" she demanded, hoping that if her sister wasn't there, she may respond from the garden or some other place. There was not a hint of movement as she peered inside.Araine looked worried throughout the entire house she even attempted to peek under the kitchen counter. Not a single clue revealing Vade's whereabouts. or even the professor.Araine let out her loudest cry. Her voice echoed across the forest, startling the birds and upsetting the quiet existence of the village. While Araine walked downstairs, Rune attempted to sleep upstairs. The girl's yelling nearly gave him a heart attack, but he managed to stumble down the steps and glance at Araine."You are a liar...you were meant to keep her safe," Araine said, breaking down in tears.I am here to defend you and you alone, therefore I must disappoint you, miss.Rune turned to gaze at the ground and seemed rather disappointed. He was unable to assist Araine's sister , afraid that Rune's father would take terrible action. He came here to assist just one girl. He is prohibited to aid any other individual. The weeping from Araine was becoming looser and softer. She was sitting on ashes-covered floor. Her family is gone.

Forever..

Listen , Ari. - Rune turned to face the girl who was crying.-I would want to show you something, but please don't get too scared.Araine turned towards Rune, nodding to him. She then realized that a man was in front of her the next moment. Rune was still wearing the previous coat. The sunshine streaming in through the windows made his hair sparkle.Araine's mouth fell open.Araine had help in standing up by Rune, who extended his hand to her."Wow," Araine said in a mockingly monotonous voice. Is that how you make people smile? When people see me, they say far too many lovely things. Though she wasn't very thrilled, he appeared dissatisfied with Araine's words since he's used to praising and adoring. But not with this much confusion.Araine had reached the age of 17. She lost her entire family, so it's hard to say that she's lucky, but at least she has a smug guardian demon. She got to her feet and rubbed some of the ash off her clothing. She gave Rune a glance. Although I can't make up for your loss, I'm here if you need someone to cry on.Araine approached Rune and gave him a firm embrace.

- Miss, if you keep doing this, you're going to break my bones. agh! - Rune whimpered as he struggled. Araine said, "What am I going to do now?" Her head was buried in Rune's chest, thus her speech was slightly muffled by his coat.I have no clue, miss. I don't know..-he mumbled. To hide his face, Rune shifted his gaze from Araine.

He let out a huge sigh and pushed Araine away from the tight hold, forcing her to face him.

"I am deeply sorry for your loss, Ari. I understand how difficult and painful it must be to lose your family. Please understand that you are not alone, and I am here to listen and support you."

Rune looked at Araine with a warm smile, giving her a nudge. Araine looked surprised by the nickname he called her just now, because only Vade would call her that. Her eyes started to tear up again from the memories of the nickname and how many times Vade used "Ari" when she done something mischevious.

Rune cupped her face immediately trying to cheer her up.

"I can't image how much suffering and misery you're feeling right now.

It's okay to cry. Sometimes it feels like the world is collapsing around us, but I want you to know that you are stronger than you realize."
