Araine halted in front of the locked door, holding the food on a silver tray. She placed the tray in her left hand so she could open the door. It didn't go as well as she expected. She barely opened the door before her left hand simply gave up and dropped the tray with the food. Fortunately, some of them were packaged, so they did not go to waste.- Uhm...- Ari tried to grab the puppet's attention while scooping the fruits together, "At least you should help me if you want to eat!" Rune jumped up from the carpet and wobbled out of the room on his small puppet legs.
-Well, you can eat the things that aren't smudged on the floor.- Ari said laughing while they sat down in the room. Rune started munching on an apple. His eyes lit up with purple flames. Just little ones. He does this every time if he feels strong emotions. Probably to release the tension from the puppet body. He finished the apple in seconds because he was literally starving. That explains his slim figure..
When he was about to put down the apple core a fun idea slipped into his brain. - Ari, look!- and he turned the apple into ashes with colored fire flames. It was beautiful yet scary. She sat there with her mouth open.
- So you do magic too?- Araine smirked.
Rune nodded a little and they started giggling after.Time skip ⏭
The time already passed midnight. Araine was snoring in her bed and Rune was sitting on the side. "Is it the time when I can rest?" Rune asked himself. He took a glance at Araine, she was dead asleep. Rune hopped of the bed and walked to the window, then transformed back to his true body.
He opened the window then jumped out. Araine's room was on the first floor but the house wasn't that high, so Rune didn't hurt himself. He landed on some dry leaves, which rustled under his feet, making him twitch a little from the sudden noise.Rune looked up to the bright moon. His eyes gleamed in the light. The wind went through his loose shirt, causing goosebumps on his torso. He lifted his hand and swung his finger in a circle and made a coat from pure nothing. He put the black coat on and started to wander around the forest.
He felt like he belongs here.Rune's view
I was walking about a minute now when I got to an enormous tree. It seemed very old but it had many colorful leaves. A blue leaf landed on the top of my head, but then a fast breeze blew it away. I looked up to the tree and i saw a bird nest with a little bird on the lowest branch. One of the birds peeked out from the nest's side and it looked at me. "What does this thing want?"
It began opening its mouth so I assumed it was hungry... Probably it's mom left it here, therefore there were no sign of the other birds. Sad.
But I must move on because I don't have too much time.End of POV
Rune cast a glance to the left side of the tree and began heading the other direction. He made sure no one accompanied him. In the worst-case scenario, if someone confronts him in his actual form, he can claim to be simply a teenager who recently arrived to town. While roaming through the forest, he found himself in the town's center. Rune knew it was quite a distance from Araine's house, yet a nice aroma reached his nostrils. It came from a food stall. The man inside was preparing some fried eggs and greens. He had fresh blood in little bottles. Rune recognized the nicest component of the scent.
He went to the booth and slammed his hand on the booth's table. "May I have that..?" He said while pointing to the blood filled vials. "I'm sorry but that's an ingredient for the next dishes." The tiny guy spoke with terror in his eyes. Why afraid? Because the blood lust excitement in Rune's eyes.
He wasn't a great lover of sucking blood from anything or anybody, but if he could get it at a store, he'd do anything for it."Oh, sir, your eyes are... flaming.." the man's mouth fell. He was yearning for the vial. "Fine i'll give you one, 200 diels." Rune seemed perplexed. He had no idea how a diel looked, therefore he couldn't make any. He requested the owner to show him the diel. The diel was large for the man's little hand. At least Rune could make some out of the leaves behind him.He put the diels on the table. The tiny man's eyes glittered as he examined the pile of diels. Rune didn't realize 200 diels was so much because he knew nothing about this place.
The owner collected the money and handed Rune a vial.
The tall boy put away the blood and turned into a bat. He flew back to Araine's window. He turned back to a puppet and sat down to the bed's side. It was almost 3 am.
That could mean one thing. Ghosts!
Rune noticed a huge mirror in the corner.
Since he was a kind of a demon he could see ghosts and stuff. There was an order in the darkworld.
Demons
Half demons
Ghosts
Half blood ghosts
Trolls
Anything in between was unknown. Therefore there were no Half demon half trolls because everyone knew their place. Rune waved at the upcoming ghosts. One decided to sit beside him. She was very pretty, Rune couldn't hold himself and started a conversation. Turns out she died because of a dangerous experiment. Her and her friends were in a field and they were looking for the best spot to start making the potions.
Luckily they found the perfect place. They cleaned it up a bit and placed the tools on a table.
"I didn't expect things to turn out this way.. Out of my friends only I died.." the girl started to tear up. Rune wanted to comfort her with a big hug but since he was in his puppet form he refused. If he transforms back, Araine might see him if she wakes up.
So he just nodded along while the girl talked. Suddenly, she stopped and looked at Rune. She looked at him with a confused face."Is something upsetting you girly?" Rune asked looking straight into the girl's eyes. She shrugged. He must've forgotten something..."ah yes.. May I ask your name?" his eyes lit up. He's such a genius isn't he?..
Her name was Lorane.
The two continued talking until 4am. Sadly, Lorane had to leave because if she doesn't enter a mirror by that time, her soul will disappear and she'll never be able to return. She would just vanish, like she was never there in the first placeTimeskip⏭
Rune couldn't clear his mind. All he could think about was Lorane and her quiet giggles that echoed through the house. Those gorgeous pair of eyes, silky hair and most importantly, her smile. The way she talked, made Rune crazy. Of course in a good way.
He looked up to the ceiling and kept daydreaming about Hannah..
