Hadrian and Tom, followed by the court, walked into the common room and went and sat down in front of the fireplace. As the court started talking amongst themselves, Hadrian sat worrying about what would happen with Dumbledore next. He knew it wasn't over yet, far from it.
Dumbledore just couldn't stop thinking about Hadrian Evans. He could feel the power the boy held and was determined to get to him before Tom Riddle could. He needed to figure out what this boy was hiding. Hadrian wouldn't even look him in the eye! He shouldn't know that he is a master in legilimency, but why else would he not look him in the eye? Dumbledore needed to come up with a plan. First, he supposes, he should figure out a way to warn him of Tom but he needs to figure out a way to get Hadrian alone. Perhaps a detention would do. Then he would be able to question him freely without any interruptions. Perhaps he should try that Macnair boy to see if he knows anything. Yes that is what he shall do. He will make the boy tell him what he knows. Dumbledore smiled and sipped his tea while going over his clearly full proof plan. Except clearly Dumbledore didn't realise Hadrian knew of his plan the second he thought of it.
Hadrian yawned and said goodnight to everyone before heading up to the dorm. As he slowly climbed the stairs he couldn't help but wonder how this talk with Death was going to go. Hadrian went into the dorm room and started gathering his items for bed. He changed into his pyjamas and brushed his teeth before softly pulling the curtains closed around his bed before settling into his blankets.
Death?
Yes young master?
Am I going about this the right way? I mean, could I really stop Tom from becoming the Voldemort from the future?
I believe that, yes, you are going to be able to stop him from becoming his future self. However I have some troubling news regarding Dumbledore.
What is going on?
It seems that Dumbledore is increasing his search into your history and is planning on using Macnair to try and figure you out. I recommend that you go to Gringotts and take an inheritance test as soon as you can. You should change your name to Hadrian Peverell.
Oh bloody hell. I knew it wasn't going to stop at any point in time. I was planning on going as soon as I can but I am not sure how I am supposed to get there because I am not supposed to know how to apparate yet. Hmm, why would I change my name?
It wont stop until drastic measures are taken, young master. You should talk to Slughorn about going on a weekend with his permission that way if Dumbledore finds out, he cannot do anything. As for the name change, it will allow you to get closer to Tom and give you a higher status than keeping the name Evans would. Perverell is one of the Sacred twenty-eight. It is in the top ten due to Perverell being direct descendants of Godric Gryffindor. If you were to go by Hadrian Perverell then you will be able to stop the wizarding world from falling helplessly into Dumbledore's hands. You would have more pull than Dumbledore.
I will go see Slughorn in the morning then I suppose. I do believe I will change to the name Perverell as it would help long term.
Is there anything else I can do for you young master?
No thank you Death.
Hadrian didn't even wince as Death left his head. He sighed softly once more and closed his eyes to sleep.
The next morning at breakfast, he sat next to Tom reading a book on inheritance tests.
"Are you interested in learning about your inheritance, Hadrian?" Avery asked curiously. This caused Tom to look at Hadrian face blank as he was using his normal mask.
