TW! Hunting/Death of an animal

The crisp scent of the woods engulfed your form. Branches of cedar trees casted long shadows against the grassy forest floor.

Your feet expertly navigated through the trees, you had been coming to the Chatani Family Forest since you had gotten your quirk.

The forest had been passed down the Chatani family for generations, from parent to offspring. Currently, your Oba-chan (roughly translates to Grandma), held ownership over the property. When her time would come, she would pass it onto your father, who would then pass it onto you.

You see, the land your family owned went hand-in-hand with the quirk your family shared.

Wild Cat, a fairly simple name for a quirk with a stunningly complex backstory.

From the time of your earliest ancestors, the Chatani family had a connection with cats, specifically wild cats. Some of your ancestors were even said to be able to communicate with felines of all kinds.

The connection started when Azami Chatani, your great-great-great-great-great-many more greats-grandmother, found a wounded cat along the road. She took pity on the creature and nursed it back to health with healing tea. The cat soon got better and formed a bond with Azami. It revealed itself to be a Bakeneko, or supernatural cat. Normally these creatures were seen as curses, demons who struck fear in the hearts of others, despite that, Azami was unafraid. The Bakeneko was grateful for her help and instead of cursing Azami, blessed her and her descendants with a connection to cats all over the world and gifted your family this ancient land.

When the era of quirks came along, that connection wasn't forgotten. Most members of your family were blessed with cat-themed quirks. They were given superhuman strength, enhanced hearing, enhanced smell, enhanced sight, the ability to see in the dark, and the ability to transform into a certain species of cat. The quirk was incredibly powerful, but not entirely good....

If a user went to long without releasing their inner beast, the creature would tear them out from the inside, making them animalistic. Eventually, the beast would force itself out, filled with rage and bloodlust. The beast was untamable and would eventually vanish into the forest, never to be seen again. On top of this, one's emotions could also trigger the release of their cat. Extreme anger, fear, and stress were all things you needed to prevent.

So at least twice a month, you would travel up to the Chatani Family Forest, and release your wild cat.

The type of wild cat you got typically game from the father's side. As long as your father was a Chatani, it was likely you would have the same species of cat as him. So it came as a surprise when you didn't develop your father's normal house cat.

Instead, you were blessed with the powerful muscles and beautiful coat of a snow leopardess. Along with the constant worry of being lost to your inner wild cat, being a snow leopard also made the warm climate an issue.

You finally reached your destination, a wide river with a thick canopy of trees overhead. The river was one of the few places you could relax as a leopardess without the worry of overheating.

You carefully took off your boots, placing them beside your backpack. You slowly slipped off your shirt and shorts, tossing them atop your backpack.

You waded out into the stream, the current rushing past your knees. The frigidness of the water scent shivers through you, but your snow leopardess would be grateful for it.

Letting out a deep exhale, your eyes slipped shut and you allowed yourself to be lost in the snow-capped peaks of your mind where she resided.

When your eyes opened, your pupils were reduced to small circles and your irises were silver with swirls of icy blue. Your soft white underbelly was wetted with the water, as your pale gray overcoat was covered with dark rosettes and spots. Your head tended to be covered in spots that thickened out to rosettes along your torso, which then thickened into bands along your tail.

You let out a low throaty purr and rolled over onto your back, allowing the cool water to fully soak your fur.

The water was no snow, though it did provide relief from the heat. Part of you wanted to move to Rikubetsu who had an average daily temperature of -11.4 °C (11.5 °F), on a January day. They were also home to Sika deer, Japan's only native deer, the perfect prey for a hungry leopardess.

With a powerful push of your hind legs, you launched into the center of the river where the water was deepest. Your strong legs pulled you gracefully through the water, allowing you to dive beneath the surface, fully blanketing you in the pleasure of the numbing water.

After playing in the deep for a good while, you began to paddle downriver, regaining your ability to stand.

Large white paws padded over the pebbly bottom of the water, droplets occasionally dripping from the base of your tail. Your paw pads seemed to mold with the rocks along the river's base, preventing you from falling.

Your dark nose twitched as you took in the scents of the surrounding forest. Hunting swirled in your mind, blurring the line between human and snow leopard. Eventually, the carnal urges won, causing you to leave the refreshing river in search for a meal.

You silently stalked through the woods, relying on the shadows to keep your pale fur hidden. As an experienced huntress, you evaded stray sticks and leaves, anything that would give away your location.

Then you found your target. A plump, young Japanese Hare. It's dusty brown body was small, a light snack for a leopardess your size, but it would suffice.

You slowly crept downwind from the hare, trying your best not to alarm it. Its small body was quartering towards you, so slinking further into the shadows was probably best if you didn't wish to be seen.

Now you were withing striking distance.

The last thing the poor hare saw was a pair of piercing blue-gray eyes as you flew at the tiny creature. Your retractable claws slightly nicked one of its haunches as you landed beside it.

The hare began to run and the chase was on.

The pair of you darted through the trees, weaving between briars and bushes. You wouldn't have long until the hare hide itself away in its warren so you needed to end this fast.

With a powerful kick of your long hind legs, you pounced on the hare, pinning the creature to the ground. You could feel its heart beating under your paw as the pair of you had a staring contest of some sort.

The hare had stopped struggling and you felt the sharp pang of guilt and sympathy as you finished the creature off. You gladly allowed the snow leopardess to take control of your motions as she enjoyed her catch.

This was the part you hated about your quirk.

You could feel the breeze through your fur, speed across the ground, smell things far better than anyone else, leap vast distanced, but you could very easily kill too.

With a sigh you shook your head, sending her back and regaining control.

Slowly stretching, you left behind your hunt, going to retrieve the belongings beside the river.

Your gray tail was the last thing that slithered out of the clearing. The only sign of your presence was the splatters of blood from the hare that had once existed.

A/N: This chapter came out a little late and I apologize for that. Also sorry to any vegans/vegetarians/animal lovers/etc. for the hunting bit of the chapter. I just felt it was a fitting piece to include to further explain everything behind (Y/n)'s quirk. If people are overly offended by it I might consider editing it but please don't start fighting in the comments.

On a different note, next chapter we are going to introduce one of the class 1-A characters! Guess who in the comments!

Please remember to upvote and comment, I love reading people's reactions to my work.

Stay healthy, get some rest, and drink some water for me!

With Love,
