Before I even knew it I was saying goodbye to Vela and my mother. The night slipped out of my hands as I cried it away, almost forgetting what I was going to wear to the draft.
I caught the plane along with the rest of my team, heading to Michigan with them as we were all up to be drafted. Although only two of us were top prospects and expected to be top three in the draft.
We arrived to the hotel within what felt like minutes. All of us having our own rooms for once and being left alone so we could check out the place and do whatever before it was actually the big day. I stayed in my room the whole time, sulking over what felt like a terrible break up. Binging movies and shows that I downloaded on my computer, getting a call from Trevor.
---
"Hello?" she answered
"Hey I called you last night were you asleep?" he asked
"I didn't see it sorry" she apologized
"You don't have to apologize, I just wanted to tell you we'd all be there for your big day. We're in fact here but I'm right outside your door" he said with a knock following
"I don't think you wanna see me right now" Stella sighed
"I always want to see you Dem" he softly said
"I look like a complete mess" she said
"And so do I after a game I loss. Now open the door dude" he demanded
"Fine, only for a little bit" she clarified
"Of course" he agreed
She hung up before getting up to answer the door, sure enough Trevor was there along with a bouquet of tulips and a bag of swedish fish. Having the biggest smile on his face as he was genuinely happy for her.
"A little something for my little person" he jokes trying to keep back a laugh
"How can I hate you for this?" she questioned trying not to cry
"Hey hey woah, I didn't mean to make you cry" he said dropping his smirk
"I'm not going to cry... it's just been a while since people have done a gesture like that for me" she said wiping her eyes
"I remember you saying your favortie flowers were tulips and your favourite candy was swedish fish" he said looking at the two
"I didn't know you listened to me" she softened
"I always listen" he softly said, entering and closing the door behind him
"Thanks, I really needed this" she said hugging him
"No problem Dem" he said hugging her back instantly
Just as Stella did with Matt, she broke down. Beginning to sob in Trevor's arms as he hugged her tighter while pushing her head lightly into his chest for some security. Trevor let Stella cry onto his brand new shirt he bought so he could look good when he saw her, he didn't mind. He knew that her love life wasn't the best, hearing about every single inconvenience or difficulty. Trevor knew best that neither Chris nor Stella was ready for a fully committed relationship at the peak of their lives.
Chris was rising on YouTube along with his brothers and Stella was a number one prospect in the hockey world who has a whole lot coming to her. Both of them had to focus on their careers and themselves before getting into a relationship. Trevor just didn't want to say anything since he knew that's what he couldn't say, it would sound like he's trying to split them apart so he could have her when really nobody could have Stella. She had to collect herself before even becoming available.
