"If you tell me you're leaving, I'll make it easy
It'll be okay"

One month had passed since the joining of two families had occurred and, needless to say, it was a conflicting one.

Elladine loved the fact that she had more people to share her kindness and love with as there was so much in her heart she 'just had to get it out' in her own words in response to Claudette's praise for her kind soul.

She also loved the fact that her father had someone to share his love with, even if it could not be her mother. She wanted him to be happy and supported his decisions in an effort to achieve it.

However, Elladine couldn't shake the odd feeling she had around her step-mother, as if she had to be cautious whenever she was near.

Ella got along well with her new sisters, one a bit more than the other. She grew closer with Brenda and they would play together often. But, once the older of the two biological sisters entered the room, Brenda would stiffen slightly as if she had been caught... as if it were incriminating to be found enjoying the company of their new step-sister.

Elladine found Teresa to be an odd case. Occasionally, Teresa would have friendly conversation with her, even though it was slightly strained. But other times, the girl's striking blue eyes felt like they were burning a hole in her skull.

Luckily, she still had her previous family with her along with her new one. Claudette would help her get ready for the day and teach her how to read and write, Jorge would then teach her a crude joke that Claudette would attempt to have her unlearn - with little success - and, lastly, her father still read to her every night before bed.

But now, the nightly story time had two new listeners, Teresa and Brenda, by request of the Beausoleil girl, who wanted to share it with them. The three girls would sit crossed-legged on her bed, hanging off of every word that fell from Francis' mouth. Elladine wished that it could stay like this forever.

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever...

"But why can't he just walk himself the rest of the way"

"Well, my flower, that is the unfortunate thing about walking; you need to be able to use your legs"

Francis had been notified of a man that he worked with being trampled by his own carriage while on the way to deliver a parcel from their employer to a distributor a few towns over. He was fixing a faulty wheel when the entire carriage collapsed and fell onto his legs, resulting in him being rushed to the infirmary, unable to complete the journey. Since he was not too far, Francis was asked to collect the parcel and bring it the rest of the way.
