Adventures In The Realm of Mystery - Book 2 - The Starship Dream
WARNING: This story is completely make-believe, as Kilika trees don't really exist, neither do 'ships' that can visit the stars. Eupotiu isn't a real Chinese village either. So, if you answer any of this on your history of China test, your gonna see a big fat 'F' on your paper when your teacher hands it back! Also, kids, don't ever touch a wild animal!
Chapter One – A Bad Day
It was a cool day in Zhao Reyla's village, the village of Eupotiu, China, and Reyla was mad. She had just tried out for the Chinese army last week, and she had been flatly rebuffed. Even with her amazing invention, They still said no. Reyla was a very skilled inventor, but no one appreciated her genius. The thing she'd invented could travel to the stars beyond China's thick barriers. Reyla named it the Star Creator. The Star Creator could fly higher than any of the walls that the Emperor had ordered built. But, even though the kind people in Reyla's village thought the Star Creator was the most amazing thing in the whole universe, the Emperor's top military commander had just said,
"The walls of China stand tall and strong. Even when those walls fall down, China will stand tall and strong. We have no need for you or your hunk of junk." Then the guards had hauled her and the Star Creator back to her horse-driven carriage. Reyla sighed at the memory. That was last week. The Emperor's military commander, Commander Li Zuocheng, had insisted she never use the Star Creator again, and highly recommended she destroy it. Reyla had refused both, loading it on to her carriage quickly so he wouldn't destroy it.
Reyla arrived at the edge of town, where there was a huge open plain, with a forest surrounding it. Reyla grinned for the first time ever since that incident with Commander Zuocheng. She ran towards the woods, feeling the wind in her hair as she ran. Reyla approached a tree, looking around, she felt around the bottom of the tree. Pushing open a door in the ground, Reyla climbed down the tunnel using the strong Kilika tree branches, stuck together with mud at different intervals. (In other words, a ladder.) Reyla leaped into the Star Creator's home, or Reyla's secret base in other words. She started a fire in the hearth, lit a lantern on her desk and started continuing drawing plans for impenetrable armor made of diamond. Reyla had started this a while ago, and it was mostly complete. She just needed to find out how to put the pieces together.
