Scar's POV: I woke up early as so did Leah and our son it had been almost a week since our son Kia's presentation to the Pride Lands and it had almost been 3 weeks since Kia was born it was a beautiful morning when Leah and I woke up
Good morning Scar Leah greeted smiling happily at me
Good morning my dear "how are you and Kia doing? I replied
We are doing well but I better feed Kia since he is starting to a feel little agitated this morning Leah answered
Alright well Mufasa and I are going to go patrol the borders of the Pride Lands but after that I will be back and we could spend the day together as a family I said
That sounds like a wonderful idea Scar Leah replied happily as she was nursing Kia

No one's POV:
After Scar left to join his brother in patrol Leah finished feeding Kia and they decided to spend the day together and wait for Scar to return after an hour or two Scar finally returned and they went for a walk Kia was slowly starting to learn how to walk and would between Scar and Leah
It seems like a beautiful day out today Scar said admiring the atmosphere in the Pride Lands
Yes it is it beautiful in morning and mid afternoon during this time of year Leah replied
Kia was happy as well he was jumping around trying to catch a butterfly which caused Scar to chuckle softly and shake his head Kia continued trying to catch the butterfly but was unsuccessful Leah walked over and gently nuzzled Kia in which Kia lovingly returned the gesture Scar smiled happily he was happy and proud to have a family but little did they know that it was about to change their lives forever
Leah's POV: after we came back to our den we laid down for awhile and talked while Kia was playing then after about an hour or so I decided to go hunting for lunch for all three of us so I asked Scar if he could watch Kia until I returned and he agreed I licked his cheek and looked down at Kia who reminded me so much of Scar and I nuzzled him which made him giggle happily
Mommy will be right back sweetheart I told Kia
Be careful my dear Scar said looking at me with worry
I will Scar don't worry I reassured him then I left our den
I walked around when I spotted a herd of zebra I knew zebra was Scar's favorite so I decided to hunt them I saw a male zebra with an injured leg Mufasa had always told us about the circle of life and all so that was why I decided to hunt the zebra with an injured leg from a circle of life prospective I was putting this zebra out of his misery but I was about chase after the injured zebra I heard a twig snapped behind and the next thing I knew everything went black
An hour later Scar's POV: I was laying down with my son settled in my paws when I noticed that something was not right as I was thinking about it I heard Kia fussing I looked down at him seeing him rubbing his eyes and appearing to be a little cranky I gently nuzzled him to try calm him down
What is the matter Kia hmmm? your mother is just out hunting though she should be back by now "where are you my dear? I said to myself worriedly
I knew something must've happened but I did not know what could have happened stayed in the den with my son hopefully against hope that Leah was alright after a little while my brother came as so did my sister in law and the look on their faces was when I knew that something terrible had happened
Mufasa what is wrong I know something is wrong please tell me I said
Scar I have some very bad news it's Leah she's...... Mufasa began but couldn't finish
She has been what Brother tell me please tell me I said panicking
She's been killed Scar apparently a rogue attacked her from behind I'm so sorry Scar Mufasa finished looking at me with a extremely sad face
I could not believe it my mate the mother of my son was killed by a rogue I was angry I had asked Mufasa if they ever found that rogue lion and he said they did not I told Mufasa that I'am going after that rogue but Mufasa jumped in front of me blocking my path
Scar don't do this think about Kia if you go out and try and fight that rogue then Kia will be left an orphan Sarabi and I can take care of him but what are we going to tell him that you went and got yourself killed you know Leah wouldn't want you to do something stupid please Scar for Kia please Mufasa begged
I sighed softly and lowered my head in defeat I knew Mufasa was right he knew there was no way I could take on a rogue and survive I was never the one for brute strength I was scrawny and lacked muscle but I was smart I looked over towards my son and I knew that I was the only parent that he had left he looked up at me and meowed and crawled over to me nuzzling my leg I leaned down and gently nuzzled him back I did not know how I was going to explain what to his mother but I knew that I was going to wait until he was much older to tell him but for now I would just be there for him as a father should be it was raining when Mufasa announced Leah's death we all bowed our heads in silence I had Kia standing between my paws and felt him nuzzling my leg with tears rolling down his face I looked at him and sighed sadly I knew that he knew that it was a sad day for all of us but I knew that he did not know why it was a sad day all he knew was that his mother was never coming home again after the supposed funeral I gently picked Kia up and carried him back to the den I was tired and I had decided that we should rest and that's what we did I made a vow to Leah that I would protect Kia from danger until the day that I was reunited with her again and that was that
