"No!" I screamed, slapping my hand on the table.
"Well of course you can" he said sitting back in his red velvet seat with his feet up.
"It's against everything they stand for." I said turning around towards the door.
"They" he said in disgusted "What about that one friend of yours, she seems special to you after all." My breath was rapid now, my chest rising in falling quickly. I hesitated before asking.
"What are you going to do to her?" I finally asked, I turned around toward the dark wooden desk. He smirked, making his dark mustache arch.
"Kill her of course, after all you wanted to end them and what do you do?" He picked up a dagger off his desk. "Become one of them, start to enjoy the idea of being one of them." He twirled the blade in his hand. I smacked my hand on the desk
"No!" I screamed "Touch her and you will die!" I pointed at him "or I will kill what you love most!" He laughed
"Dear, there is nothing left I love." He said putting down the dagger "Besides, not only will I hurt her but that mark on your shoulder will leave you in agony."
"You can't" something caught in my voice, a battle scare. I thought, swallowing hard, he got up and walked to the door but stopped by me. He grabbed my arm in spite I might run, I gasped at his grip.
"Finish the job" he whispered in my ear "or I will" walking out the institute door.
In 2009, I was born in London and lived there for seven years, walking with my parents in the spring was a normal routine from what I can remember. One day as we walked, we passed many streets with beautiful stores, some were beautiful clothing stores, restaurants and others were pubs. My father loved the pub, which my mother hated. My mother love antiques and my father said it was just old stuff no one needed. My father worked at the pub and my mother worked at an antique store, which is how they fell in love. My mother always took me to work with her and I helped pick out the best things for customers. My father would finish his shift around five and walk down the street to the shop, my mom would close the shop at six and we would walk down the crowded streets. One night, we decided to take an alley way home and that's when I found out.
Chapter 1
As the day got darker we passed the dark shadows of the small alley way, my parents always looked nervous around the darkness and told me to fear them as well. Not something you here from encouraging parents. We kept a steady but fast pace, as we turned another corner we kept our pace. As we kept walking I heard a faint growling of something, I stopped making my parents as well. We stood there for what felt like minuets, the growling got louder and more of whatever lurked in the shadows.
"Mommy?" I looked back at her she looked frightened and with a shaken voice told me to walk slowly toward her. As I did so, I heard something come crawl out of the shadows, I tried to turn around and see it but I was push toward my mom. She held on to me as my father threw things at it, trying to scare it away. He never had a weapon and neither did my mother. And in seconds I heard my father cry out and my mother screamed blocking my vision as my father was murdered. The second shadow flew towards my mother and me. My mother covered me from the shadow and killed her instantly with its claws. I got up out of my mother's dead arms and ran into the shadows, so it would not see me. I saw it looking around the ugly creature looked to find the living, fresh blood it did not kill, when a glowing sword came out of nowhere. Not just a sword but a person wielding it, piercing this shadow and racing toward the other one. This person stood there after the beasts were destroyed and looked over toward where I was. I looked sideways at this man but suddenly he took a glowing pen out and disappeared in a second. I looked over at my parents, blood and black liquid mixed and they covered in it. I crawled out slowly from the side of the building to see my lifeless parents. My chest rose and fell quickly.
"Mom?" I shook her "mommy?" I looked over "Daddy?" They didn't respond. I felt the back of my eyes burn and warm tears mixed with the cold night air and I cried wishing this was just a dream.
"Poor little girl." A voice came from nowhere, I turned around and saw a man dresses in a dark suit. He walked over to the cold, lifeless bodies. He bent down and shook his head "Seems like such a tragedy." He said "And who can you run to?" I wiped my cheek
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Who will you live with now?" he asked.
"I don't....know" I said laying my head on my mother's chest
"Don't worry, I was a...friend of your mothers" he smirked and held his hand out for me to stand "I will help you." And without thinking, I let him.
"Brynn...BRYNN!" I woke up startled which made me roll over and fall off the bed. "Wow, I was calling your name for like five minutes." She said. I groaned
"More sleep." I took the blanket from the bed and draped it over me on the floor.
"We have training today." She said trying to get me to get up
"Well, as you perfectly know I have enough skills in that category at the moment" I said wrapping the covers over me.
"BRYNN!" She shook me. "Training now, sleep later!" I groaned
"Fine" I whined and got up, the room was cold and my bare feet on the floor didn't help that at all.
"Get dressed, I'll be down stairs." She skipped out of the room. I hit the door with a pillow and fell back on the bed.
"Yeah, yeah" I waved her away.
Good??? Anyways it goes back and forth to before and coming to the Institute and the present of the story...if that makes sense;)
