Confession time: We ditched Grover as soon as we got to the bus terminal.

I know, I know. It was rude. But Grover was freaking Nancy out, looking at us like we were a pair of dead men walking, muttering "Why does this always happen?" and "Why does it always have to he sixth grade?"

Whenever he got upset, Grover's bladder acted up, so Nancy and I weren't surprised when, as soon as we got off the bus, he made us promise to wait for him, then made a beeline for the restroom. Instead of waiting, we got our suit cases and entered the crowded limo just as it pulled up. Sleepover Time!

"Afternoon Kyle. How was your day?" I asked the driver.

He grunted.

A word about my mother, before you meet her.

Her name is Sally Jackson and she's the best person in the world, which just proves my theory that the best people have the rottenest luck. Her own parents died in a plane crash when she was five, and she was raised by an uncle who didn't care much about her. She wanted to be a novelist, so she spent high school working to save enough money for a college with a good creative-writing program. Then her uncle got cancer, and she had to quit school her senior year to take care of him. After he died, she was left with no money, no family, and no diploma. Despite this she became a really famous novelist under a pen name; Jade Umbra. She raised me well but, most of the time I'm home she's writing another Bestsellers Novel and just ignores me, which is why whenever we talk I ask about my dad: Poseidon. She and I both knew I was a Daddy's girl.

The only good break she ever got was meeting my dad.

I don't have many memories of him, just this sort of warm glow and the memories of before he left, 7 months of memories with my father, that's it. My mom talks about him a lot but she NEVER told me he was a God, however, you're speaking to the reincarnated woman with an eidetic memory here.

Lost at sea, my mom would tell me. Not dead. Lost at sea.

Between the two of us life was pretty easy. I knew I was an easy kid.

Going to my room, Nancy and I dropped our suitcases on the bed. Home sweet home.

Then I heard my moms voice. "Linh?"

She opened the bedroom door, and I smiled.

"Oh, Linh. " She hugged me tight. "I cant believe it. You've Graduated!"

She greeted Nancy and started attacking me with questions. How was school? Were we okay? 'She didn't come to the graduation because if she had she'd already know the answer to those questions' I thought slightly bitterly, but shook the thought off and plastered a soft smile on my face.

For her sake we tried to sound up beat about the last few weeks at Church Farm School, a silent sort of agreement we wouldn't mention the Museum incident. I told her I wasn't to down about the graduation and that I could just see my friends out side of school. I was really cheerful describing my school year.

Until that trip to the museum . . .

"What?" my mom asked. Her eyes tugged at my conscience, trying to pull out the secrets. "Did something scare you?"

"No, Mom. "

I felt bad lying and Nancy probably did too. I wanted to tell her about Mrs. Dodd's aka Alecto but I also didn't want to scare her.

She pursed her lips. She knew I was holding back, but she didnt push me.

"I have a surprise for you girls," she said. "You're going to the beach. "

My eyes widened and than I caught the 'You're' naturally Mother wouldn't come with us, she was busy and now we'd be being shipped off to the Beach Cabin all Summer, since Nancy was staying here as her adoptive Mum and Dad were on a cruise all Summer. "Montauk?"

"All Summer, In the Cabin. I've contacted Nancy's parents, You girls are 13 well and truly old enough to be on your own, but No hosting party's and no sleeping in any other houses. If you have any problems there's a house phone at the cabin, use it only in emergencies. Since we own the beach I'm going to leave the sports car on the beach and you girls can use it to drive, only own the beach and remember there will be other people their who have rented out cabins and paid to spend time at the beach."

"When?"

She smiled. "As soon as you get packed. "

I couldn't believe it. Mom was shipping us off to the beach again! Nevertheless I smiled softly and nodded.
