It had been a few years since Nemo had found herself profoundly sick, again. On rare occasions, she used the death note as a last resort for self-defense. During a case, she was injured by the suspect, which led to her leaving the United States. She had moved to Japan to study abroad. She had a few cousins in the Kano region that could help her settle in, but other than that, she was completely left to her own devices. She was offered a job by the Japanese Police. She solved several cases in America. Transferring to the Japanese Police was relatively easy, but she was put on light assignments. Soon enough, there had been a lot of criminals dying at a rapid rate.
These numbers were concealed from her, but through the help of her coworker, Matsuda, she was able to get an exact number. She began to do her research into the multiple deaths of several different criminals. She had noticed that all of them died in a specific way. All the criminals Nemo researched died from heart attacks. When she came out with this to her employer, Soichiro Yagami, he was almost willing to fire her for leaking classified information. However, he didn't fire her. He promoted her to work on the investigation, alongside all her coworkers.
However, she began to suspect that the weapon being used to kill all these prisons was the death note. Gin had told her that just writing down someone's name and using someone's face was enough to give someone a heart attack.
This was merely speculation on her part, but it was no surprise that someone or something was using a death note to kill criminals all over the world.
"Well, what makes you think it's a death note?" Gin asked, munching on a blackboard eraser. As Nemo got to know Gin, she began to realize that he had a strange obsession with eating things that weren't necessarily food.
"Well, think about it, it's a series of heart attacks among criminals all over the world, not only that, they all seem to be happening at the same time. Almost to prove a statement." Nemo opened her laptop and searched for the strange case of heart attacks.
"Interesting." The shinigami said with his mouth full.
"Oh, shit. I'm late to the ICPO." Nemo grabbed her laptop and bag and ran out the door.
"Wait! Don't leave me alone!" Gin cried.
But, Nemo was way ahead of him. She rushed downstairs and got on the nearest bus.
The meeting seemed long and drawn out. Lots of arguments took place on whether or not this was mass murder. Politicians from all over the world were arguing endlessly about the mass murder being dealt on the prison systems.
"Mr. Yagami, I'm sorry for being late." Nemo apologized, sitting next to Soichiro.
"No problem. Just take your seat." He said. Mr. Yagami was genuinely a kind-hearted man. Nemo heard all about his family. He was very proud of his son. He described him as a 'respectful young man with a great passion for his education.'
Nemo was studying under him, and he welcomed her into the task force with open arms. With her experience, she was very vital to the Japanese Police. However, she wasn't given proper treatment at first. Most of her coworkers looked down upon her because she was a woman in the detective field.
"If that's the case, it looks as if we'll have no choice but to bring in L." A politician yelled. The whole conference room hushed. Whispers were heard here and there.
Nemo had heard of L in the past but never got to interact with him. L was one of the most skillful detectives of the century. Nemo met him once in a meeting a long time ago. It was a case in the States, and Nemo had no clue where to start. Once L was involved, the entire case was handed off to him, without her knowing. She had blown up on her boss. Nemo had gotten so mad. It caused her to have a heart attack right on her boss's desk. She was fired from the agency.
