Nemo nodded, but she didn’t want to answer that. This girl had killed her co-workers along with almost anyone that got near the Sakura TV station. She gulped harshly. “I usually let Gin handle that. He is the shinigami after all.”
Misa looked somewhat disappointed. “So, you don’t write names?”
Nemo hesitantly shook her head. “No, I don’t. The death note I have only had one name.”
Instead of being mad or upset, Misa looked ecstatic. “Woah! You’re even cooler than I thought! You only have one!”
Nemo chuckled, nervously. Her sweaty palms were a definite indicator that she was lying. These signs weren’t noticeable to Misa. “You’re too kind.”
Misa grabbed Nemo’s hand. “Did you see any of my messages on television? If you saw, Kira must’ve seen them as well.”
Nemo nodded. “Yeah, I did. It was incredibly bold. Why do you want to kill L so bad?”
Gin immediately flinched, snapping his head to face Nemo. He shook his head vigorously, attempting to hide in a lampshade.
Misa genuinely thought about her question. “Well, he opposes Justice. The over-policing and demanding us to just stay in line, when the evil is within the heart of the world, is the reason Kira started in the first place. Most people would say ‘Killing of any kind is wrong.’ That is politically correct. But, you and I both know that the real monsters are the ones that walk free. No one is free unless there is someone to reinforce freedom.”
Nemo took a deep breath. “Did you get all that from the Kira forms?”
Misa nodded. “Absolutely, the Kira forms have helped me connect with more and more people about the greatness of Kira. Of course, my PR manager wouldn’t allow me to say that on television.”
Nemo turned away from Misa. She could finally understand the purpose of being Kira. She wasn’t too far gone, but the temptation of the notebook lingered. She couldn’t stand to look into Misa’s eyes. The fact that she killed her friend still felt like an open wound.
Misa looked concerned. “Are you okay, Nemo?” She started getting closer to her. She used her other hand to turn Nemo’s head. Nemo blushed. Her face was just inches away. “It’s a relief to find someone so like minded.”
Misa kissed her cheek, gently. Nemo didn’t know how to react. She knew that it was simple and friendly, but this kind of flattery was dangerous. “Misa, I understand your cause. However, I’m unsure of how you’ll find him before the police.”
Misa giggled. “Oh, Nemo! You’re so silly. That’s the whole reason I got the eyes! I’ll be able to spot him in the crowd. If he’s a user of the notebook, his lifespan would be hidden.”
Gin nodded at Nemo. A switch clicked in her head. He knew this the entire time. It was only a matter of when and where he would be.
