The Game of Monarchies "Sanguis Rosa"

Chapter VII

The dinner was nice as always. The food – incredible. After it Zea, Helltin, Evanora and Lucien stayed back and chatted. The main topic was the ball. It is the main reason why everyone came here. Though the Kings and Queens of Aggeris and Veatus would only show up one day before the ball, that was not a problem for the young adults. Actually it is more fun, no parents to constantly tell you what you're doing wrong is truly a relief.

Out of nowhere Evanora suggested taking a walk around the city. Though it was already fairly late the group decided to head out. The only problem they ran into were the guards. There wasn't a chance they would let the young royals leave, especially with no entourage. The group had to come up with a plan and soon they did.

The plan was pretty simple. Head back to rooms and wait until it gets a bit more quite. Then using the trees that were outside their windows, make their great escape. At least one good thing about this kingdom were the trees planted around the castle. After getting down, they silently creep around to the gate, that's where everyone will meet up and Evanora will show them the way to the city.

Most did this plan very well, except for Lucien who just couldn't stop making noise and was almost caught by the guards three times. The group kept teasing him about it for the rest of the night. Evanora was first to get to the gate, then Zea and Helltin showed up. Lastly joined Lucien. It had been awhile since Zea had to climb trees, childhood memories came flooding back. She felt that this night was going to be fun and one to remember. Rarely does anyone get to act like this, especially since royalty is looked after 24/7. So this little adventure is a breath of fresh air.

The city was asleep, only a few dim lights could be seen in the windows. The royals finally felt free. No one stares at them or judges. Just them and the stars.

"Let's go to the city centre!" Suggested Evanora.

"Isn't that, like the fastest way to get caught?" asked Zea.

A small smirk appeared on Lucien's face, "Aw, is someone afraid to get caught?" Zea was ready to punch Lucien when suddenly they heard a guard's voice.

"You there! Don't move or else we will use force!"

The bunch looked at eachother, the same expression on everyone's face. This wasn't good, they couldn't afford to get caught. If parents hear about this they won't be able to go anywhere without guards. So what brilliant idea did the group come up with? Run in different directions and so they scattered.

Evanora knew the city perfectly, others not so much. Zea started running only to realise she was about to get cornered. She was really close to the guarding wall which surrounded the main part of the city. Quickly needing a way out, she saw another approach. Princess could climb onto the roof and run on top of them. Thank Gods Zea decided to wear pants or else this would have been ten times more difficult. She grabbed onto the ladder of the guarding wall and jumped. Hoping to catch something to grab and pull herself up. But the guards figured out what she was trying to do, they tried to cut her off or atleast catch her and bring her down but today luck was on Zea's side. She caught the windowsill and climbed onto the roof, finally being able to run away.

Soon she saw a house with a roof that Zea could potentially lay down for a bit and hide. Taking the chance she made her way to the house. Only to find Evanora laying there as well. Eve quickly took Zea's hand and pulled her to the ground. Two of them laid really close to each other, to the point where they felt one another's breaths on their faces. It was hard to make out the details or see small things because there was no light. Though one thing Zea could feel was Evanora's heartbeat and her own. Fast and loud. Suddenly Zea felt a hand on her cheek. Eve's face was really close. The space between their lips were millimetres so Zea decided to take the chance and close the space. For a bit Evanora froze, when the other princess was about to pull away, Evanora responded to the kiss, more passionately then Zea. Soon they pulled away, their lungs were deprived of oxygen. Taking deep breaths, both of them felt euphoric.

"We need to get back, others will start to worry about us."

Zea nodded her head and helped Eve to stand up. They quickly made their way back to the gate unnoticed. Helltin and Lucien were already waiting for them. Zea looked at Helltin who had a light blush on his face, making sure to remind herself to ask about it later.

Soon everyone was near their rooms, suddenly Lucien said.

"We should do this again sometime."

"Do you mean to explore the city at night or run away from the guards?" A playful remark came from Evanora.

"How about no more running?" Poor Helltin hated running, no surprise he only wanted to go to bed and sleep.

"Maybe let's go rest, tomorrow we will discuss this when guards aren't looking to kill us." Zea said. The whole group shared a laugh and went their own ways.

That night Zea couldn't fall asleep easily. The only thing she thought in her head was the kiss. Why did she kiss Evanora? Enemies don't kiss, they hate each other but Zea wasn't sure if she could call Eve her enemy. There was a part of her which wanted attention and affection from the Princess of Collis. Yet another part of her knew that this was not right. This kept Zea up till early morning, she only fell asleep around bright hours...
