I'm going to say it upfront. I see Lloyd and Akita as siblings than lovers. In the show their relationship was hella rushed as Akita only viewed Lloyd as somebody to help, then enemies (?), friends, then lovers? Like that makes no sense to me as Akita showed no such emotions to Lloyd, so I feel that the kiss on the cheek was more of a "I care for you as a friend or sibling" type way.
In Royals, Akita and Kataru move to Ninjago (as Lloyd is also a Formling) and they all become part of Lloyd's family. Gabriella, Eve, Edgar, Leo, and Courtney accepting them like that.
