Taehyung
When Jungkook opens the door to let me in, he's busy talking on the phone with someone. He only gives me a brief nod before allowing me to enter his house and sit on the sofa. While I get comfortable, take off my shoes and kick my feet up on the couch as if I were at my place, he continues walking back and forth in the living room, scratching his neck from time to time out of nervousness. I don't stick my nose into his business and prefer to scroll through my phone until the call has ended.
"Sorry, it was the doctor" he apologises as soon as he hangs up.
"Is something wrong?"
He shakes his head. "No, I just had to put off an appointment. Sorry about that."
"No problem" I wave him off. "Were you watching Friends?"
Jungkook blushes like crazy at such a simple question. "I— yeah." I can't resist how adorable he gets when he turns shy, and end up smiling to myself. "Namjoon said it helped him learn English faster, so I gave it a try..."
It makes so much sense now. I already know the reason behind this choice, but it wouldn't be fun if I didn't tease him a little. "And why is that, Gguk?" I raise an eyebrow.
I love the way his red cheeks have just turned one shade darker. "It's hard to communicate with people who don't speak Korean."
"Like Céline... and Bridget?" I inquire. Jungkook avoids my eyes like the plague and shrugs as if he weren't dying inside.
"Yeah, or like the girl I met around campus and couldn't give directions to..." he sighs. "Not being able to speak to her made me realise how poor my English is. I need to get better." To put an end to a conversation that got too embarrassing for him, he struggles with the TV remote to turn off Netflix and go online to play our favourite video games.
We haven't done a videogame marathon in so long, our busy schedule rarely allows us to, but today is the day we can finally try out the latest version of our favourite together. The controllers are already connected to the TV, which is on and only requires one click to start the game.
Jungkook suggests to snack on something, and after an affirmative response he comes back with a family-sized bag of chips. We eat one chip after the other without even looking away from the screen. Every bite I take, I then wipe my hand on my jeans to avoid greasing the joystick. I wouldn't want it to slip from my grip and make me lose the game. Jungkook barely even remembers that there's food on the table, his arm doesn't reach out for the chips more than three or four times.
"You know, Friends is cool and all, but..." Jungkook starts, eyes still fixed on the screen. "I was wondering if you could give me some English lessons every now and then? Not like a full course, obviously, just... maybe if you talk to me more in English, or if you could teach me some slang words I can use..."
I don't know if his crush for Bridget is as obvious to him as it is to me yet. But what I do know is that this sudden obsession over English must have something to do with it. "Sure, whenever you feel like it."
"Thanks, I know I could count on you," he giggles. "Namjoon is always too busy, I didn't want to bother him."
"I don't think you'd bother him. He's always glad to help."
"Maybe I'll hit him up, too..." he trails off as he's trying to beat my avatar to death with his weapon.
We spend all our energies on the game until Jungkook's phone interrupts the fun. As soon as we hear his ringtone, Jungkook starts humming to it. Every chance he gets to sing, he won't waste it. Ever. He sings a few seconds to his ringtone before pausing the game and turning the alarm off.
