About 6 weeks later, Y/n was sent on a mission with Tokito. Recently, she'd been trying to make friends with Muichiro, but was unsuccessful due to his rude and blunt attitude. "Eh, Tokito-Kun, isn't it nice we are on a mission together? Though, i guess it's strange the Master wanted two pillars on a mission together...maybe it's one of the 12 kizuki?" Y/n tried to start a conversation with Tokito. "...shut up. You talk to much." He replied with a blank face.

"ha, rude much? Have some respect, Tokito-Kun! You know, that is going to make everyone dislike you--" Y/n started. "Shh. The demon is nearby. You really need to shut up, Y/n-Chan." Muichiro cut her off, clamping one of his hands over her mouth.

"Mmm! Mph mmhmph!" Y/n angrily attempted removing Muichiro's hand from her mouth, before successfully removing it and and kicking him in the shin.

"Stop-" He hissed. "Well don't tell me to shut up, okay?" Y/n muttered. Suddenly, Muichiro seemed to stiffen. "The demon," He breathed. "Big deal." Y/n grumbled and rolled her eyes. "You're going to antagonize it, Y/n. Don't be stupid." Muichiro scoffed. "Eh!? Are you calling me stupid?" Y/n loudly exclaimed.

Out of nowhere, the demon launched at them, flying right towards Y/n, who's back was facing the demon. Somehow, Y/n raised her sword at exactly the right time and beheaded the demon. "How did you do that?" The demon snarled.

Y/n's aura changed, noticeably. "Oh, sweet demon..." She quietly but sweetly whispered, crouching down to meet the demons head. "What the hell..." Muichiro thought to himself. "Do you understand that you are simply a useless slave to your master?" She mused, looking down. "Replaceable, even?"

"Don't disrespect the lord like that! He appreciates my work!" The demon angrily cried. "Ah, but you know I'm right, don't you? Practically a puppet," She continued shrugging her shoulders,"I doubt he truly appreciates you. Or your word. You are just an excuse for him. U-s-e-l-e-s-s." She mouthed out the last part. The demon began to cry.

Muichiro was surprised. He wasn't aware demons could cry. Or, maybe he was. He might've forgotten. Maybe...

Were the tears angry, sad, who knew. But when the demon was finally starting to completely disappear, a barely visible smile was seen on it's face.

It knew it's fate. Muichiro knew his.

He could die at anytime and everyone would simply move on. That was how it would always be. People would continue on with their lives. That was what Muichiro thought. But Y/n wasn't sure of her fate. She didn't have anyone she necessarily thought was worth staying alive for.

That was part of the reason she became a demon slayer. She didn't have anyone to lose. They wouldn't lose her. The other part...Y/n wanted to avenge her mother. Her mother was a dancer. Kind and beautiful, Y/n strongly resembled her mother. But Mother was killed by a demon. Y/n never found the demon, and she wasn't going to stop trying.

Flashback

Young Y/n walked out into the courtyard, and saw her mother dancing, gracefully and elegantly with two fans. The way she moved, like if she were going along with the flow of the wind, Y/n wanted to do that as well. "Mommy! What are you doing?" Y/n excitedly asked out of curiosity.

"I'm dancing, love. Would you like the join me?" Mother softly asked. "Yes!" Y/n exclaimed. "Okay. Let me get you some fans." Mother smiled. Mother walked back inside and soon returned with a pair of beautiful lilac fans. "Here, my love. Take care of them for me. i wouldn't want to lose them" Mother chuckled.

Y/n reached out and held the fans. While they were slightly large for her small hands, they felt like they were made for Y/n specifically.
