Skeppy took a deep breath of the cool, night air, relishing the fact that he could breathe normally without his helmet on. Bad was running along beside him, keeping up just as he usually did. He was no longer wearing makeup, but he kept the black and red cloak and boots. The two of them ran down the city streets, not even caring if anyone saw them, just enjoying their night together.
Skeppy made it to the building first, hopping up the side effortlessly, as if he had done it dozens of times before. Bad followed, boosting himself up as much as possible with the assistance of his boots. They reached the top of the building and sat down on the edge just as they had all those nights ago.
"I guess we got our answers," Skeppy said, resting his head on Bad's shoulder.
"Yes, we did," Bad smiled, allowing his head to rest against Skeppy's as they looked out over the city that sprawled out in front of them.
"Hey Bad?" Skeppy asked, a question popping into his mind.
"Hm?" Bad mumbled, still looking out over the city.
"Where is your dog?"
"What do you mean, where's my dog?" Bad asked.
"You have that dog, Rat, I know you do, but I've only ever seen her in the office building. Where is she?"
"Well, she stays in my bedroom sometimes, and other times she stays with one of my friends."
"So you've just been hiding the fact that you have a dog from me for a month now?" Skeppy teased.
"I wasn't hiding it from you... It was just a little secret." Bad laughed.
"I bet if I had seen her, I would've known who you were from day one."
"There were definitely other signs that told you I was the same person, Skeppy," Bad laughed. "It was up to you to put two and two together."
"Yeah, well you didn't know it was me either!"
The two of them sat at the top of the building until just before sunrise. They hopped down to the bottom of the building and Skeppy smiled. "Race you home!" Skeppy challenged, taking off in a mad dash in the direction of the apartment.
"Just you wait!" Bad shouted after him, rushing after Skeppy at an even quicker pace. He knew he couldn't keep this pace up for long, but he gave it his all, racing past Skeppy and running as fast as he could down the street.
Skeppy tried to keep up as Bad brushed past him, but he realized that Bad wouldn't be able to keep pace long enough to beat him anyway, so Skeppy continued running as he had been. At one point, Bad stumbled, caught himself, and continued running at an, albeit slower, speedy pace. On the last dash to the apartment door, Skeppy overtook Bad and reached out to touch the door mere seconds before Bad could.
"I won! I won!" Skeppy cheered as Bad unlocked the front door.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you muffinhead," Bad laughed as the two of them stepped inside.
Skeppy shut the door before tossing himself down on the couch. Bad sat down beside him and yawned, looking forward to getting a little bit of sleep. Skeppy grabbed a blanket and laid down on the wide sofa, allowing himself to close his eyes and relax. He felt Bad lay down beside him, pulling half the blanket over himself as well.
Skeppy smiled contently and snuggled into the blanket, allowing himself to slowly drift off to sleep. Before he fully let go, however, he opened his mouth to say one thing. "Bad... I know I love you..." He mumbled sleepily.
He waited for a response for a moment. "I know I love you too, Skeppy," Bad whispered. With his peace of mind, Skeppy allowed himself to fall into a comfortable sleep, a smile on his face as he drifted into his dreams.
