_________________ The moment the dagger met flesh, time seemed to slow down to a perpetual agony. A haze drawn over their souls, every heartbeat was echoed in her head so slowly she had to make sure she was really alive.
Nothing felt real, only her tears. Those burned.
Violet desperately scratched the back of her mind, remembering every one of Donavan's words. All of his smiles and advice, she was desperate now to remember them all in vivid detail.
Terrified that time would slip even the fraction of her memory of him away.
She only cried harder though. But Violet wasn't alone in her tears, Archer was next to her with his ever stoic expressions melted in sadness, tears so silent.
They made rivers that day holding each other and Donny.
She wasn't sure how much time they spent there in the exact same spot, time seemed impossible right now.
Eventually, Archer picked up the man wordlessly and his tears were gone. Violets heart panned and she looked up at him from her spot on the floor.
Archer didn't meet her eyes, just looked forward and for a second, she panicked.
But he wordlessly adjusted Donny carefully so he could hold him with one arm, and he dropped the other for her, "let's go home." He mumbled.
Violet took his hand and stood up, and together they walked outside.
Everything felt wrong now, the way she inhaled, the way the breeze blew, even the shining sun. Everything made tears roll endlessly down her face.
Even though Archer was showing zero emotion now, she could tell that he was feeling this disconnect, this blip too.
They stared ahead at the clouds, not saying a word. Violet was too sad and scared to even utter a word that existed in a universe without Donavan.
And Archer? Well Violet couldn't tell very well, but she knew he was in agony.
When their car arrived they drove in silence, Donny in Archer's arms still as he stared ahead.
Everything felt dull. And when they got the mansion, Archer left with Donavan.
They disappeared and she was left alone finally. She noticed her hands, how they shook. And she noticed her outfit and the blazing red that made her wince her eyes closed. All she could see was blood.
She ran up the stairs to her room and when inside the walls she slammed the door shut and cried. Tearing the red lingerie off her, screaming as she did so, her eye sight foggy and under the water of her cries. She was angry, and grieving with knives in her heart.
She grabbed one of Archers shirts he left in her room and slipped it on over her shoulders, buttoning up the fabric and crawling into her bed.
The pain rung all over her body. She felt so alone and cold. So unsure of the future, she wanted Archer, needed him. But instead she laid in her desolate bed, devastatingly alone
